Question about pain

I am not sure what I did exaclt but I'm pretty sure I did it while helping my mom move her storage unit on Saturday.
I don't remember the exact instance and there's no visible bruising, but I have a constant mild, yet annoying shooting pain in my ribs on the left side about half way up my torso, and about1-2 inches forward of my side.
It's especially painful when I turn to the right or when I lie down (making sleep very difficult)
Any ideas what it could be?

My husband is a Corpsman for the Navy and said that it is most likely muscle or connective tissue in the rib area that was over strained which can be painful. He said it will be ok with rest. Give it a good week of rest. He said rib's most likely not broken but if it was broken they would say the same thing with resting. Good luck and take it easy.0

Thanks very much Patti and husband.
I have had a cracked rib before and it was more painful than this so I'm pretty sure it's just the connective tissue like he said.. No weights or abs for the next week, just cardio.0 -
I have zero medical training, so read this and act on it with that knowledge, if you choose.
The shooting pain you mentioned, does it feel like you're being stabbed? I get that occasionally. You may have strained something and/or jostled your bones/joints out of alignment. A trip to a chiropractor should fix you right up.
Definitely, take it easy in the meantime. Good luck!0 -
Your welcome. He encourages exercising but he said you really got to take it easy. Maybe elliptical easy. Don't push too hard because injury will get worse and make healing time linger which will just frustrate you. You really want to heal to do and be 100%0
