Reality tv show promo for overweight black women

There is supposedly a reality tv show in the works with overweight/obese black women who need to work out. I'd looooove to be on the show and workout for 90 days with one of their gorgeous models.
I saw the "Men of Rundu" perform a few years back and I used to have one of their non-heated calenders but someone stole it.
Here is a sneak peak of their reality tv show promo "Rundu's Calendar Body".

Why do I just see this as another opportunity to create more of a negative impression about black women in the media?
I've had it to here with the constant barrage of negativity, especially over the past five years. We're too fat, too unattractive, too unmarried, too loud, too ghetto, too neck rolling, too video vixen-ish, too mammy-ish, too...well you name it.
Enough with all that. I bet you nothing good will come out of this except more trashy TV mocking the participants.
Memo to self: avoid.
COI: never been overweight or obese and I'm not even American, but still get to enjoy the fruits of all the negative stereotyping  :explode:0 -
The lady who owns the company is a black female, so I'm sure there won't be any mocking. I understand about the negativity but I always try to trump that. I used to get teased by a few co-workers who told me that I was too quiet. Fat, unattractive (beauty is in the eye of the beholder), unmarried, loud, etc. come in all races. Don't let it get to you.0

Looks like it would be a good show if it makes on a network. Lord knows they would probably try to dramatize it.0

Your optimism is admirable, however, once it gets on TV it will become a slave to ratings; as with anything else, and then it becomes a rapid race to the bottom. And we know how much the general public LOVES minstrel shows.
As for not letting things get to you, as human beings we are social animals and we are influenced by our environment to varying extents. Constantly dealing with the (blank word) handed out whilst simultaneously being told to 'rise above it' gets old very quickly.0 -
extremely interesting, i'll watch it.0

Screw stereotypes when that precious information they're sending out can reach someone and change their lives forever and for the better. Why do I just see this as another opportunity to create more of a negative impression about black women in the media?

+1 I'd be drooling too much to care about stereotypes. Talk about motivation.Screw stereotypes when that precious information they're sending out can reach someone and change their lives forever and for the better.0

Yup. I'm a weight loss show junkie. Would love to watch. Not to mention, congrats on their tv show! The ladies must be so excited. Really hope it's not a race to the bottom, though. :laugh:0
