I HATE FISH.

I used to hate fish/seafood, couldn't even stand the smell, but I kept trying it here and there because I know it's good for me and I wanted to expand my taste pallet (I was a VERY picky kid).
It was just a matter of trying the various options cooked different ways. I like tuna in a simple salad, but don't like it in a casserole. I also now like shrimp, but only if it's grilled. I eat catfish several different ways, as well as cod and tilapia. The cod is excellent fried, and I like catfish blackened. Tilapia is great lightly coated with panko and grated Parmesan cheese, then baked.0 -
I also hate fish.
Three years ago I moved to the Salmon Capital of the World. since then I've had all kinds of fresh salmon, halibut, Dungeness crab, King crab... and I STILL hate fish.
Only fish I'll eat is tuna fish. Not tuna; tuna fish. From a can. Has to be solid, packed in water and mixed with lots of mayo, garlic, and other flavors.0 -
Who said you HAVE to have it? It's only the omega-3 that's in fish & you can take a supplement for it. Dont like it....dont eat it.0

hope tbf is getting fish more regular than that or tgf sorry0

OK, I get it. Do you like a nice thick juicie Steak? If the answer is Yes. Try "Shark". Thresher Shark is a close taste of steak, I would eat it insted of steak. Mako is good too, but Thresher is the best way to go. I live in rual Colorado so it is hard to get. Albertsons generaly will have it though. And yes, cook it like you would a steak.0

just keep trying it. whenever you get the chance. that is how i turned around my dislike of sushi.0

My all time favorite tilapia dish:
Pan sear tilapia fillets in olive oil ~ 6 minutes a side
Sauce:
1/4 low fat plain greek yogurt
2 tsp. honey
1 tsp. dijon mustard
1/4 cup lemon juice
Salt & pepper
Chopped chives
Stir and set in fridge, I mix it before I start making the rest of my dinner
Serve tilapia over bed of risotto (I like lundbergs creamy parmesean for this) and drizzle with a healthy portion of sauce.
Enjoy!0 -
GREAT YOU HATE FISH! THEN DON'T EAT IT...
and explain to me why we're yelling here?
Anywho I love sea food.0 -

I would ask that if you eat shark, you ensure the shark was harvested legally here in the US, and look in to what is known about mercury levels in that species.0 -
I LOVE FISH!
I HATE MEAT.
Try some Tilapia. Butter/oil/pan fifteen minutes, done. I sometimes put cheese on it. ;x
You had me until you mention cheese. Cheese does not belong in a fish dish..0 -
I say don't worry about it- I am the same way. But I am completely insane- I don't like fish cooked but LOVE sushi. I like tuna with mayo. I have tried to like fish, but I haven't found any I can stomach. I have tried swordfish and like it a lot, but the mercury content is very high, so...
Or just keep trying different kinds, different ways to prepare it. Maybe you will find what you like!0 -
Some fish is a good place to find omega 3 6 and 9 and iodine. these are all available in other foods like eggs for the omegas and green leaves for iodine. Cauliflower is good for calcium. It is better than almost anything else. My problem is I can't grow them at all nor buy them small enough not to have them available for days.
Unless you have a specific health issue with the alternative why the fuss0 -
I LIKE FISH
ME TOO!
ME THREE.0 -

How dare you
Seriously.... cat fish I could eat everyday of the year.0 -
Cook some salmon and dress it like beef.0

I'm not a big fish fan either. I rarely eat it, maybe once a month or less. I don't worry about the omega oils. That's what my expensive vitamins are supposed to provide. I always ask to have my fish cooked really dry and then it doesn't take so "fishy." I do that with salmon, tuna, mahi mahi, you name it. The chefs hate to do that but it's the only way I'll eat it.0

WHY ARE WE SHOUTING ABOUT FISH?????0
-
You can keep sampling different types, and different preparations, and over time of tolerating it, you might acquire a liking for it. It's like a lot of things we learn to enjoy as we experience new foods and recipes.0

I'm in the same boat as you. I cannot in any way shape or form get behind eating fish. Everyone tells me its so good for you, low in calories, blah blah blah. I feel a great deal of guilt because not only do I hate the taste, the smell alone makes me so sick. My husband used to love fish, shrimp, sushi, crab. I can't allow him to cook it in the house when I'm home. He hardly ever gets to eat it because of me. I honestly get ill from the smell. I used to work in a Cajun seafood restaurant and have no idea how I survived that job.
I hope you can find something that works for you, however for me I have lost all hope. I have tried a bite of every thing I can think of, mostly because when we go out to dinner my husband will order it. He does not mind setting clear across the table so he can enjoy his seafood.
Sorry to those who probably think I seem selfish, but in all honesty you have to experience gut wrenching belly flopping pain to understand.
Good luck to you!0 -
yuk, I make salmon and shrimp and scallops for hubs, the house stinks bad, yuk0
-
If you take a cinnamon capsule with fish oil caps you will burp Cinnabon instead of tuna0
