30 Day Shred Appropriate?

I'm down to 142lbs my goal is 135lbs (if that). I'm not too concerned with the weight exactly but want to lose the belly fat. I'm at a calorie deficit and am losing slowly. However I've been reading up on the 30 Day Shred and I consider myself quite 'fit' I've been doing cardio since February and started strength training exercises this week. Is it appropriate to try the 30 Day Shred to help lose the belly fat?

I was planning to stick to strength training/toning exercises and cardio from fitnessblender then trying the 30 day shred dependent on the results..I'm not sure if I should do it as everyone says losing belly fat is all from the deficit

You won't get rid of "belly fat" but should tone all over. I think I noticed it most in my arms. I'd say give it a whirl. Don't expect miracles, but 30DayShred is a good program.

I know but I noticed a lot of pics where the belly goes down a lot... I probably need to vamp my normal exercises before I try it I just wanted opinions on what it does exactly and if its appropriate

the lose of belly fat comes from your diet and from eating less than you burn. 30 day shred is a decent enough beginner cardio-strength training dvd. it's a great place to start, however, should not be done every day, despite what the title may lead you to believe.

try doing the 30DS three times a week (mon-wed-fri) and do cardio on tues-thu-sat. rest sunday. it's a good template for most people.

I lost inches from my hips, waist and stomach - less on arms and thighs - when I did it. So I'd recommend it but not just specifically for belly fat!

So it's really everything I have been doing - cardio and strength training? That being said, I'm going to increase my strength training workouts per week along with cardio similar to the template you stated for 2.5 months then may try the 30 day shred but both programmes (fitness blender and 30 day shred) focus on the same thing but at different intensities right?

I don't have the DVD but how long is one workout you do in a day? I was wondering if 30 minutes of strength training/cardio at medium intensity is enough per day when I'm as close to my goal?

    Thanks for all the help

Agree! I do it every other day as well to allow muscles to rest and on off days run on treadmill 45mins to over an hour.

I also modify the squat part and do 15lb goblet squats and if too much put a dumbbell down and do 7.5 goblets. In other words you can use heavier weights or modify it a bit to up intensity! Great burn. Has me hffing and puffing even though I can run for a good amount of time on treadmill. Lol

a lot of people have a misconception about lifting heavy. they believe that they will get bulky, and they are intimidated by the stereotypical men that are in that area of the gym.

but for many women, barebells were the missing piece that gave them the results they were looking for.

The reason there are many answers are "lift heavy" is because it will provide the results more often than not that the OP wants. Most people who only come on here looking for 10-15lbs lose and vanity lbs believing that losing another stone will give them the flat stomach slim arms/legs etc. To an extent they are correct losing weight will give you a smaller version of the current you, but lifting heavy will give them better results without the need to lose those vanity lbs.

    ???
I want to hear from those that keep saying to lift.. lift will help flatten belly?
Okay it will help tone arms or legs, or help burn more calories.. but the OP is asking for belly.

I would think eat at a deficit enough to lose weight, stay away from salt, bread and other bloaters... excersice and focus on abs in order to stregthen them.. move move move enough to burn calories, lose weight and actually see the abs you have been strengthening..
But then again i don't know... i am fairly new to this.

It will help with burning calories but you need to keep eating healthy and lose weight for your belly to go down. If you have belly fat, then you still have weight to lose. Just think how much 5 pounds of fat looks like. Losing five more pounds can make a huge difference.

I have done the 30 day shred before and I lost inches all over.

Lifting heavy is very efficient.... your muscles need to be challenged.

30 DS is cardio+strength .....not nearly as efficient (for muscles) as just strength training. Besides 30 DS is just 25 minutes long.....more than half is cardio. You can continue to "up" the weight of the dumbbells as you go, that will help.

30 DS is not cardio I enjoy....so I use DVDs that are just strength focused instead.

That's exactly how I think of it. I truly believe the next 5-7lbs will make a MASSIVE difference, everything has gone down except my belly.
