I'm not new-new, I've been here a week or two but I want friends I can relate too. I love being on this site and I love motivating others, I'm taking this journey to motivate my aunt. She's having health problems because of her weight and she thinks losing is impossible. Long story short, if I lose weight, I'll show her that it is possible and hopefully motivate her to do the same.
I love my body even though I'm short and 'obese' by the BMI standards. but at 185, even though I feel like I could lose some pounds I'm not disgusted with myself nor do I hate myself for the way I look. I DO have those days, but it doesn't drive me into a deep depression.
I know I could be a better me, and I'm seeing this change as possitive.
I know a lot of people can't relate to that, we're all here for different reasons but I'd like to find people that want to do this the healthy way. the calorie goal to lose weight is a decent one, yet I see some people starving themselves to shed pounds. Eating about 200 cals a day and complaining because they only wanted to eat 50. That's not healthy and I can't support that.
So, all in all, I'm just looking for people that want to lose weight in a healthy way and are positive about change and realistic over all else. Something I can relate to and actully feel like motivating them.

I am in the same boat.. i am 195 but i don't look in the mirror and be like a hate the way i look.. i think i have a better self image. For you aunt, i have allergies to soy, wheat, dairy, gluten and walnuts, have thyroid issues and at 37 have already been through menopause. Dieting and losing is tough, tougher with my body, and i love to eat!! She can do it any one can if they want to no matter age and health you find what works for you, find foods you love and things you like to do.. My friend lost alot with 0 exercise and two knee surgeries. My mother worked on loosing weight and was successful with multiple scorosis in a wheel chair. I have friends and family with all levels and types just find what works for you and what you love to do so you can have the live style you love and loose weight if needed or be healthy. Just by me eating healthy recently i got to stop taking heartburn meds and my seasonal allergies are gone! No more meds, the body is an amazing thing! good luck with your journey.0

I think it's great that you're doing this to help your aunt! I love seeing family members who are close enough to do that for each other.
I felt the same way as you did for a long time. I was happy at an 8 or 10 or 12, despite realizing that I could probably stand to lose some weight. Right now, though, I'm way past that and at the point where, as you mentioned, I get disgusted looking at myself most days and wondering how I got this far gone! However, I do want this to be a very positive change and I'm trying not only to change my lifestyle but also to change my whole outlook. Yes, I want to lose weight, but I want to do it by changing my habits completely, not with binge diets or something that's not sustainable in the long run. I also want to set a good example for my daughter so I've been trying more and more to dress in nice things (even though I may not be 100% comfortable wearing them) and getting used to the idea that I can still feel good about myself regardless of how I may look now.
So yeah, despite that essay I just wrote there (sorry it's so long-winded), feel free to send me a friend request if you're looking for some motivation! I'm always up to meeting more people who can keep me in line and who are willing to share their successes because I love seeing others doing well and it inspires me to meet my goals, too.0
