Hello! Im just curious how many ladies are expecting on here. What are you doing with trying to keep your weight from getting out of control? I am 25 weeks, I was 141 when we got pregnant and now am at 155.Oh I am 5'4" btw and 28 years old. Doc said I am gaining a little fast and need to slow it down. They only wanted me to gain 20 lbs the whole pregnancy I eat at maintainace and get on my elliptical as much as possible without trying to overdo it. This will be my third adn last pregnancy, so I really wanna slow the weight gain down to make it easier to lose after baby. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'm at 33 weeks and I've gained about 30lbs in total. Keep in mind that's NOT 30 lbs of fat! I don't expect to gain much more in the next couple of weeks other than what the baby gains.
I've really just kept up with my workouts, modifying when needed and making sure to reel in any unhealthy cravings knowing that the healthier I eat, the healthier the baby will be. I did track my food for my first two trimesters not to obsess over calories but just to keep an eye on portions. Are you keeping track of what you eat?

I'm at 13weeks, just started monitoring weight gain actually. Doctor wants me gaining 25-30lbs tops and I've already gained 5lbs. I admit my first three months were very bread heavy cause that seemed to be the only thing that kept my stomach calm but I've been feeling better now and can eat most foods I think.
Mostly just want to see what others are doing that are further along. I was told to walk 30min a day and stay away from sugar as much as possible but I don't know if that's enough.0 -
5'6" - PPW:134 lbs.
I'm 12 weeks and have gained 6 lbs. Admittedly, I have been loose with what I eat, but now that the holidays are over it's time to start eating healthy again. I've read a few blogs out there from some fit women who remark on rapid initial weight gain, but then it kind of tapered off and they stayed within recommendations.
This is simply speculation, but I think it's easy to go a little overboard in the beginning when you're generally fit. It's kind of a license to depart from a strict regimen (at least it was for me). But reality has quickly set in in the form of upper abdominal fat and blooming thighs My baby needs nutrition.
I'm still running about 20-30 minutes/3x per week and lifting weight/3 x per week.
Good luck with your pregnancy!0 -

Thats great!!! Yeah I have come to terms that I dont eat as healthy as I should. Im sure if I could cut out processed stuff and eat better it probably would help. Im tracking what I eat, adn still keeping up with the walking. Espically with two kids and doing childcare I feel like Im always on the go! Congrats to everyone and their growing babies! I hope we all manage to stay active and keep weight gain to a minimum! lol0

I was 5'3. 146 pounds when I got pregnant -- my doctor told me anything up to a 35 pound gain would be considered "healthy". I ended up being terribly sick the entire time and I only gained 16 or so. I would ask your doctor to clarify why a limit of 20 pounds. I guess what I am saying is, I wouldn't be so hung up on numbers if you are still exercising and trying to eat a balanced diet -- unless there is a very specific reason.0

I am 5'4" and was 160 when I got pregnant. This is my 4th baby and I am 38 years old. I am 23 weeks and have already gained 20 pounds! I've gained a lot with each pregnancy but I'm hoping to do a little better this time around. Before my first baby almost 7 years ago I weighed 130 and would love to eventually get back there again after this baby (which I think is my last ). Tracking my calories via this site and using my fitbit so hoping that helps. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.0

I hate when the doc tells you you're gaining too quick, they told me that every time with my first and it always made me want to cry! They had a point, I gained 60 lbs with her, but it still made me feel terrible! Now I am 10.5 weeks with my second, and I have gained almost 3 lbs, all in the last week and a half (darn holidays!!!). My starting weight was 176, I am at 178.6 now. I walk one or two hours a day and drink a lot of water, so that helps, I just need to control the sweets cravings! I wish you all luck, and remember that breastfeeding burns a lot, so there is hope at the end of the tunnel if you get and maintain healthy eating habits . Easier said than done, but it is worth a shot!0

Thats not a lot at all. Not all pregnant women are the same. Not all babies grow at same weight. Eat healthy foods n exercise if possible, if you can do that all will be fine. Baby needs those calories. The weight will come off eventually. As long as your watching your sodium and not eating a ton of junk food n or soda then you dont have anything to worry about. enjoy your pregnancy. And congrats.
I gained 40, 50, 30 with my babies. The weight came off within 6 mos to a yr with each. Dont worry so much.0
