Living as a Vegan ....

I've been living life as a vegan for approx the last 1.5 years. Well -- lets be honest -- I would say I could say for sure FLEXITARIAN -- meaning that I would stick to the Vegan life during the week and then my mind would convince me most weekends that it would be kewl to just indulge in a bit of hamburgers / french fries / meat of some sort ... but then I would get right back on on Monday AM.

NOW, I have lost a bit of weight but not what I have read could be possible ... I know and take responsibility for this ... but NOW I'm looking for fellow Vegans ... who are doing this to lose weight and for other health benefits as well (heart / diabetes etc)

Lets be friends -- encourage each other and see some positive results going forward .... losing weight , exercising more, and getting generally more healthy.

I'm 58 , running about 290 right now (I was 340) ... I love music, I love to cook and cook all of the meals here at my home (my wife never ever liked cooking) .... she has no desire to change her life style which is very sedentary and she is gaining weight rapidly ... I know its not healthy for her but until I get my own act together I can't say much can I. She still eats meat every day and refuses to even consider Veganism as a life style.

So .... whose with me ? .... Lets make it happen ... we can share recipes , ideas , exercise tips ....

Looking forward to hearing from you out there !!!! .... YUP ... I'm talkin to YOU !!!!!

In my ideal world I would live as a vegan. I eat a lot of vegetarian dishes, and when I have a kitchen/am at school I eat a lot of vegetarian food. I think that this semester will be the semester I truly commit to vegetarianism! (With vegan tendencies...) I do it more for personal/spiritual reasons then health reasons, but I appreciate people who do it for whatever reason motivates them.
  • Hi all - I've been trying to transfer to veganism for about a year. My husband eats almost no vegetables, and I have two small children who will stay on a carnivorous diet. I'm not 100% vegan yet, but I will get there sometime in 2014.
  • Hello!

I'm mostly vegan! I would say I eat vegan 90% of the time and when out or at other people's houses I just make the best choices I can and sometimes just eat what really sounds good. I used to be completely vegan but it became hard for me to stay 100% vegan after I had my son. I'm raising him vegetarian do I'll probably wind up going back to at least being a strict vegetarian really soon.
