Help for fitness noob

Hey, I need some help figuring out what to do. I usually try to work everthing out for myself, but this time I'm going to ask for help:
I haven't been very active for a while. I want to transition to be really fit. I don't care about weight, I just want to feel constantly energised instead of sedentary and lethargic. I'm not at all overweight, but I'm definitely not fit either. My diet is pretty good though.
I just want somebody to shine some light for me. What are the most important points to consider? How does the law of diminishing returns apply? Am I better off doing 30 mins a day, or 3 hours all at once? What about the kinds of exercise? How do I push my body just the right amount? Is it best to build a basic, normal, 101 style fitness, and then use that as a springboard for further goals? What has worked for people in the past?
Are there any articles about what I've asked? Any good resources for somebody in my position? I need like, a basic education, And every website I visit seems to be telling me a different message, so I need like, the most BASIC FUNDAMENTALS, that prett much nobody is gonna argue with.

It's important to find something you like as the foundation of your training I think. It's easier to be self-motivated towards a goal. Take up running or crossfit, martial arts or power lifting. Pick a sport you like. Try a bunch you never have. Then figure out how to get better at it.
You can focus on strength, speed, power or all of the above. Eat to work towards your goals.0 -
I agree with the poster above, you need to find things you like. Usually it is trial and error, love more aerobic/ dance vs. cycling. You don't know until you try. I like following workout programs, I did Supreme 90 in the fall. I will be doing T25 on Monday. Since you are beginning, I would suggest a more regimented program that follows a calendar to help you get in a routine. After that, you can experiment with what works for you. I like following a set calendar, it keeps me motivated and takes the excuses out. Good Luck!0
