I am also on low sodium. I found that preparing my own food is the easiest. They put salt in everything from Jello to chicken, even fresh chicken. I watch the labels. you can't get away from it but you can definitely reduce it. I use a lot of Mrs. Dash., they have a lot of different seasonings. I watch the labels on all the different spice as they add salt also.

Most things you cook yourself can be low sodium if you avoid adding salt. Raw, unseasoned meat in place of pre-seasoned, pre-packaged meats can be as salty or un-salty as you like. Avoid most canned foods and check the labels on condiments and jarred food. Opt for frozen or fresh vegetables instead of canned. Avoid fast food. Basically, if you don't already do a lot of home cooking, you should probably start. I generally use very little salt when I cook. I prefer to season with other spices/herbs instead.

Fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, good fats. :D use loads of fresh herbs, and spices for flavour. Get spices without added salt.

I make most of our food from scratch, and add salt myself.

I too cook most of my meals from scratch, and I'm usually way under the recommended sodium limit. The only things that really bring me up to that limit are cheese and cured meat/fish.
