I don't think any of those work. Diet and exercise are what work--take in fewer calories than you use.

I'm not sure if fat burners really work. Fat absorbers seem to but the difference you will see will be minimum.

The best fat burner is exercise. I think 2 fat absorber/blocker pills equates to between 1 and 2 miles walking/running :-) Go for a 5 mile walk or jog and you will do more for fat burning than the meds - you will also be benefiting your body :-) They only work if there is a lot of fat in your meal as well. If you are on a low fat, high protien/carb diet then the impact will be less because they actually stop your body absorbing the fat. If there isn't any fat there to start with then they don't do much

    Good luck

I think that there is a big industry praying on vulnerable people that believe the **** that they spit out. I don't think there is such a thing as an effective "Fat burner" ... or else there would be some pharmaceutical making a pill and we would all be taking it.

    Sorry ... calorie deficit

I got raspberry ketones a while back, took one twice a day. However, I eventually started to forget to take them, and my weight loss through diet and exercise was the same without so I just tossed them all together.
I agree with the others, focus on your calorie deficit through diet and exercise and you'll lose weight. Simple as that. It is a journey about learning more self control, and what you're truly capable of doing. Don't rush it :)

There are no magic pills for weight loss. Don't you think there would be announcements on tv and in the newpaper and long lines at stores to buy them if they worked. They will lighten your wallet.

Probably the closest to what you are expecting would be an EC/ECA stack (ephedrine and caffeine [and aspirin in the latter case]). You can do your own research and make up your own mind about whether you want to try it or not. There have been plenty of studies done on the various effects - both negative and positive.

To be clear I am not recommending you do or do not take this, or any other supplement. I don't really care what you do - but try to make informed choices.

Keep the shoes & clothes...Add a nice pair of weight gloves if you like... if anything, keeps the hands from hurting besides making you look badass.

Echoing what everybody else has said. This is a seriously under/un-regulated industry. Not only will you be wasting your money, but you can really hurt yourself with these supplements. Even the ones that sell themselves as "natural" can do serious damage to your internal organs.

Make sure you are getting plenty of nutrients, drink plenty of water, work hard, and love yourself.

This would be the only thing close to what you're asking about with plenty of studies showing their effectiveness, but the ephedrine can be hard to get in the US. In Canada, you can get them at any supplement store.
  • Save your money as NONE of these work, and some are simply dangerous. The best supplement for fat burning is what everyone else has said.....exercise and strength training. Good luck to you!

Like anything else, it's only dangerous if you abuse it. Do you know how many people die every year because of Advil and Tylenol?

yes there are. Oil lamps are very good fat burners. It's probably not a terribly good idea to apply that principle to the human body though. On the other hand, if you rub it a genie might come out and grant you three wishes, one of which could be to get lean.

Add Chillies to your food or slowly increase from none to moderate (hot without burning your inside out) and drink lemon juice water with 1/2-1tsp of cayennepepper to boost digestive system.

Embrace extreme helped me when I had a hard time starting to lose weight (maybe it was mental?) and by the time I was done with the pack (including exercise and healthier food choices) the weight kept coming off without having to buy any more. I had tried eating healthy and exercising for about a month before I tried it, without any results. This worked for me, but it is not for everyone.

I understand that people are trying to nudge the OP in what is - for most people - the safest and most appropriate direction but a blanket statement that "they" don't work is a little disingenuous. I don't think it is useful to propagate misinformation even if the direct effect here is positive.

Not that I am telling anyone what they should or shouldn't believe but this isn't a binary question. There are various things that have been shown to "work" in some sense and they have different levels of risk associated with them.

I am far from an expert, and am as likely to be wrong as anyone else I just think it is better that we promote open dialogue about these things.

Unfortunately, there are no magic pills...those diet supplements you hear about in adds and commercials are just more snake oil. Most work somewhat as appetite suppressants but that's about it...no magic fat burning going on.

    More info on the ECA stack;

    One of the studies:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8384187

Summary of the double blind study:
Study conducted in 34 morbidly obese persons (BMI average 37) with 75-150mg ephedrine, 150mg caffeine, and 330mg aspirin.

2.2kg was lost over 8 weeks without any dietary restriction versus 0.7kg in placebo.

5 subjects on ECA continued for 5 months without caloric restriction (optional) and lost an additional 5.2kg, the 6th subject imposed caloric restriction and lost 66kg over a period of 13 months.

    No adverse effects noted.

Geee, 68% more weight loss vs placebo WITHOUT CALORIE RESTRICTION is pretty impressive if you ask me.

    Good to know.
