weekly or daily deficit?

Hi All, I think I read on here somewhere that tracking overall weekly deficits is the way to go. Is this right? And as such can I manipulate my individual days to have a good weekly deficit? For example: I'm meeting some guys for lunch in a few days at the pub and there will be beers and such. Would it be beneficial to create a larger deficit each day beforehand so my surplus won't blow my week out? Or is consistency the key here and stick to the daily goal?
Sorry if thats confusing! :drinker:

Weekly goal means you can have a life more easily I think, eat 200 cals less for a few days and then you can enjoy the pub without worrying about it!0

I prefer a weekly goal as I find that it fits in with my life so much better and I don't feel restricted - therefore much more sustainable long term.
For me long term deprivation or restriction has been the reason in the past I failed at weight control.
The only caveat would be if one day eating "normally" would derail you from your overall plan.0 -

Good point, I won't be going crazily over for the day so hopefully by the end of the week I should still be on or near goal. I'll still log for the pub day so I can see just how much damage was done!0 -

That's what I was hoping to read! Thanks!0 -

It`s called ``zig-zag diet`` or ``calories cycling``.0 -
