Anyone else only do things in extremes???

Hi all,
I'm starting back on here as I've found it a great tool in holding one's self accountable when trying to lose weight - as the topic title suggests, anyone out there similar to me in only do things to extremes?
Having previously used MFP and lost over 50 pounds in 6 months, I've had a horrendous run of injuries through sport this past couple of years and probably gained about 30 back, so I'm starting afresh today in the hope of getting back to my previous shape by April.
The problem I always seem to have is I can't seem to do things in moderation, I knew full well even when injured just to keep an eye on what I ate yet here I am again, so frustrating! Seems the only way I can break the cycle is by going completely cold turkey each time and going into it 100mph, I hope this time I can make changes that will break the cycle and be sustainable for many years.
I think the penny may have finally dropped this time, that quite simply an improved diet is far less work than flogging yourself every year for 6 months!!
Feel free to add me, any help is great!

I do this. Except I do it in shorter bouts - but this is exactly how I run my life. Full speed ahead and then stop. Hoping to break the cycle, too. Good luck!0

Thanks - so frustrating isn't it!
What perplexes me even more is I've spent my entire life playing sport and know a great deal about exercise/nutrition, I think there's something missing in the control part of my brain!0 -
HI Harry;
I know what you mean by extremes, lol. I get upset when my body fails to cooperate, esp through injury,
but I've learned over time though that injury sets me back BIG TIME... and that is infinitely more frustrating.
Having patience and self love is something that is taking me time to learn and apply.
Probably it'll take a lifetime to get it down.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I here ya!
Its a long journey chock full of valuable lessons. If we keep putting one foot in front of the other we will meet our destination,
I'm sure of it. Keep plugging my friend.
(ps) you are welcome to add me if you wish0 -

Hi Heather,
yep as you say one foot infront of the other, even if it is two forward and one back.
What's changed for me since I last did this is I have a fiance and an 18 month old son. My hope is that I can continue to be in good shape for them both as I know having an active childhood played a big part in who I am today, I'd hate to be a father unable to keep up with kids as they get older. Whilst I have a relatively small amount of weight to lose this is more about making lasting changes as I fear my personality traits may hamper me in the future.
Good luck to you too.0
