I don't want to but I think it's time to add running to my workouts. Goal for this year is a 5K. So that being said, I need to train.

Is Couch to 5K the only online or app based beginner runner program out there? I know people have had success with it. It's been a while since I've researched it so just wondering if there was anything new out.

Thanks y'all.

I'm doing the Run Double app on my phone - based on the couch to 5k program.

Zombies, Run! 5K. Available on iPhone and Android, and I've heard rumors of a Windows port as well. Their website has more info on that.

C25K is pretty much the best program out there. All other beginning running programs have based theirs around it. There are multiple versions: C25K outside, C25K treadmill, C25K time, C25K distance...the list goes on and on. Some people have even turned into a game style program, such as Run Zombie Run. But the basics are still the same: run/walk intervals.

Just find one that will work for you and your schedule. Pretty much all require at least 3 days commitment. There are some for returning runners that do 4-5 runs a week. But true beginners, stick to something 3 days a week and then increase from there once you have finished the C25K.

    Welcome to the running world!
