So to start off, I decided that I'm in bad shape and health and I wanted to fix that. So I went on the internet to see ways I can fix that. But now I'm really confused. I got the exercise part down: a combination of weights and cardio. But im really stumped on the food part. I visited almost 10 different health blogs and all of them said different things. Low carb high protein, low fat no carbs, high protein high fats etc. Anyone wanna help me out?

Read through this thread, there is a lot of helpful information: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants0

You have to do a trial and error and see what works for you and your body. The best things to do is eat a lot of protein and fiber to keep you feeling fuller longer. Carbs are good for you but it rises your blood sugars. Though there is good carbs and bad carbs out there. Mainly over all you all you need to do is eat at a deficit and eat more proteins and fiber enriched foods to help you feeling fuller longer and read that article also0

I'm not an expert, but from what I've read so far I learned that as long as you eat at a deficit you'll lose weight.
Some foods make this easier to accomplish, while other foods make it harder. Protein has less calories per gram while fat has more calories per gram. So since you can eat more protein than fat, you'll be fuller eating protein than fat.0 -
I think when it comes to finding a way of eating for life, you have to test out the different ways because not everyone is the same. It took me over 10 tries to finally find something that worked. Just listen to your body, when you are eating right you will feel energized and overall healthy. There are so many methods out there today, but one will always work out once you find the right one.0

But remember good fats are good for you. Its the bad fats that you should be worried about more0 -
Calorie deficit. Eat whatever you want. No "food plans" necessary. Maintain a calorie deficit and you'll lose weight.
Also, protein is your friend.0 -

There are NO bad foods. Don't demonize any foods. Just read that link.0 -
what really works for me is eating less. if i normally eat 1 whole plate of rice, i try reducing the portion to maybe 3/4 plate. i've managed to cut off my soda intake until i hardly drink it any more. doing cardio & strength training will help you get in shape even more. good luck!0

It is all about personal preference. I really enjoy a high protein diet because it keeps my sugar/sodium/and carb levels low. Protein tends to be in the middle calorie wise but is the most filling in my opinion. It's just an easy guide line for me, protein=less calories and more filling.0

I did no research other than looking in the App store for a Calorie Counter of fitness tracking app. I liked MFP and have not looked back. Eventually, I may need to look to specialized meals, but I figure, the more I know about what is going in, the better I will eat.0

You lose weight by eating at a deficit. The rest is up to you, and will take some trial & error.
I use the MFP defaults. I treat the protein & fiber goals as minimums, and ignore fat & carbs. But if you ask 100 MFPers, you'll get 100 different opinions.0
