300+ people, did it take a while to see the weight loss?

I started at 400 pounds and have lost 66 pounds, and I still really can't see much difference. I haven't even changed size that much, I'm down from a tight 32 into a loose 26; so, basically, two, maybe three, dress sizes. I took a picture and put it next to my starting picture and while there is some difference, it is very little.
I think part of the problem is that I have no lost weight in my face or neck. I just measured my neck and it is exactly the same was what it was in September, and I've lost 20 pounds since then.
So, I'm wonder how long it took other people who started out over 300 pounds to really SEE the results. I can definitely feel the results, but it would be nice to see it, too.

I feel discouraged sometimes when I look at myself, but I get compliments and have lost less. I can't really see the difference myself. Have others noticed it on you? Sometimes we are our own biggest critics.0

People say things, but I think they are just being nice. My sister made a comment about how much weight I have lost and she hasn't seen me in five years and I weigh more now that I did then!
I took my starting picture and my current picture and put the starting picture over the current one in a separate layer. I matched them up using my eyes as a reference point. I hid and unhid the starting picture layer repeatedly trying to see a change, and it's really not there.0 -
I know how discouraging this might be for you. My guess is that there really ARE differences, even if they are subtle. The fact that you've dropped from a 32 to a 26 is evidence of this. I know it's hard when our eyes can't tell us what the waistband is saying. Have you taken measurements of your belly, waist, hips, or thighs? I've only lost 16ish pounds so far, but my belly used to protrude as far as my chest, and now this is not the case. That's a big change for me, and my husband has also noticed. I don't see a difference in my face, though. Maybe you shrink proportionally? (What I mean is that if your waist and hips both shrunk 10%, they may look the same since their "neighbors" are the same, but your pants can tell everything is smaller?) In my head, this made much more sense...
Know that you are not alone in either your wish to see more change or on this journey. I'm definitely here to support you. Congrats on such a loss!! What awesome work you've done!0 -
When I first lost weight a few years ago (320 lbs down to 185 lbs), I didn't notice a difference until around 220 lbs (especially in the face), but I received compliments from co-workers around 240 lbs. It's hard to notice or even accept the difference when you're constantly looking in the mirror and hoping but eventually you won't be able to deny it.
