Coffee -

How do I stop drinking it completely? And how long did it take for you to stop craving it/getting migraines?

*Disclaimer
I really don't care if you drink it everyday without problems or don't see how it could be addicting .
Thanks for any advice!x

When I cut out caffeine completely (4 a day Dr Pepper to cold turkey and only drinking water) the headaches lasted about 2 weeks and then it was fine.

Disclaimer: I now drink 2 cups of coffee a day and they will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers to give that one up. But giving up Dr Pepper several years ago would be the same effect as giving up coffee now.

    I could never...

BUT don't they say 3 weeks to break a habit? Not sure if it applies to giving up coffee or not. I would imagine a few weeks of headaches etc

    GOOD LUCK!!!

I switched to decaf. I didn't have headaches or any other side effects - just relief from having to go pee what felt like 20 times a day and half a dozen times at night.
  • I can't stand coffee but I need caffeine so I have 2 dr peppers a day (one at 6am and one around noon) otherwise I get grumpy, lazy and sleepy. I gave it up twice. The first time my boss got fed up with me because of how grumpy I got so he gave me money and sent me to go get a soda! That was about a month and I still had problems. I quit a few months back and actually gained weight from the lack of caffeine so I brought it back and lost that weight. Caffeine is good for weight loss. Also, this will sound silly but it is true, caffeine can actually up your bust size a bit because it cause glads to swell lol and I did notice a difference when I cut it out. I give you props for cutting it out I could never do it but my husband doesn't have any caffeine ever so it is possible! There are natural ways to help the migraines. I get them for stress and pressure points on your head work well. Good luck!

^^^ This is why you should not give up coffee, it gives you a horrible attitude. Good luck.

Lots of water. I was hard up on energy drinks. I made sure to have a big cup of ice and water with a straw to suck on any time to keep at my desk and not searching for a vending machine.

I switched to decaf first and then stopped. Funnily enough my body still got a buzz from the decaf as if it remembered that there used to be caffeine with that taste it just didn't last as long and after about 3 weeks that stopped too.

Quit caffeine when I was pregnant. Thought the headaches would kill me for about 2 weeks or so. Fully addicted again now - and have no plans to change that!

When I need a break from coffee I drink yerba matte tea, it has about a third of the caffeine, antioxidants, and I don't get the withdrawal headache.
