calorie watch suggestions (fitbit idea)

I like the look of fitbit and the fact it can determine caloriee burned, sleeping, and steps. Is there one that looks like fitbit, has all that fitbit has but also can be used for jogging ... so accurate distance and speed and calories burned and water resistance? I know I'm asking for a lot but never know lol :-)

Calories burned and calories eaten are all estimates. So, don't lose any sleep over them. They're guides to help you balance, but not the end all - be all.0

Not really what I was asking but thanks :-)0

Fitbit can be used for all step-based activities. I find mine very accurate for both real-world and treadmill distances, both running and walking0

I have the FitBit and really like it for running and walking, measuring sleep, etc… the only thing it does not measure well is activity that is not step based (i.e., weights). I am thinking of getting the Body Media band now as I lift three days a week. However, I got the Fit Bit because I really don't want to wear an arm band!!0

I don't know what you mean by 'water resistance'. Fitbits don't track swimming calories, if that's what you mean. None of the accelerometer based trackers (or HRMs for that matter) track resistance exercise well.0 -
meaning: you can swim with it and use in shower0

Nothing similar to the fitbit will accurately track distance, speed, etc while jogging or running or walking for that matter.
Your best bet is to get a gps watch or use an app on your phone if you have a smart phone.
I use Runkeeper and love it.0 -

I use my Fitbit in conjunction with my Nike Run app and my C25K app on my phone. I don't have a heart rate monitor, so I don't know the exact amount of calories I burned, but having those two apps open on my phone with my Fitbit has been pretty helpful. I adore my Nike Run app-- I've used it for almost a year now and it's pretty accurate with GPS tracking and my pace. The C25K app is open to help me pace my runs-- it doesn't do any tracking.0

I am very impatiently awaiting the delivery of my Fitbit Flex today or later after the holiday. I already have a Polar HRM and plan to use that to enter cardio workouts and non-step activities. If I understand correctly, if I enter the start and stop times in MFP it will override what ever is tracked on my Fitbit. My Polar is water proof as well so I can wear it when I do swimming workouts this summer! I tend to get very determined when I can see the numbers and where I measure up to my goals. I'm hoping to find the motivation I need to kick up my activity! Good luck everyone!0

so what I'm reading is that the fitbit is great to get active and tracker everything but if I work out, just use an actual hrm watch? sounds like they dont have one that has it ALL yet lmao0

When there's one that has it all... Someone will come up with something new for them to have. :bigsmile:0
