Hello! My name is Debra. Here's a little bit about me and how my journey started and is still continuing. I have always been chubby and never felt confident and pretty. There was only one time in my life when I felt ok with myself; I was working out at a gym for 2 hours a day then walking 3 miles; I did that for about 6 months and even though I felt great, I didn't get results.

Then, I moved out of state, away from family to a place where I had no family, other than my immediate family, fiance and two kids. I put on weight like crazy and I was so unhappy with myself; I was uncomfortable in my own skin. See, I moved to Arizona, where it's a good 110 degrees in the summer. I was so unhappy and uncomfortable with myself that I refused to wear shorts and there was no way I was going to wear anything that showed my arms!!!! No way!!! So, every summer, you'd catch me looking like the fool in the jeans and a t-shirt! Soooo uncomfortable in that HOT weather!

The one event that stands out in my mind and made me change was one 4th of July, my fiance took the kids to this water resort and I made up the excuse that I had to work because I knew I wasn't going to be comfortable sitting by the pool in my jeans and t-shirt. After that, I decided it was time for me to change for me!

I was turning 30 and knew that I did not want to go through another year of feeling unhappy and uncomfortable. I was going to make the change for myself, no one else. I joined WW where i lost about 15lbs and then the eating became a habit so I stopped and gradually started eating right on my own and working out at home to Leslie Sansone's walking DVD's; I was too embarassed to go outside and walk. I still have the workout pants that I wore and now they are soooo loose on me! Then, I decided to kick it into high gear; I ordered P90X and after two weeks, I noticed results and changes! I was hooked! I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed working out and I looked forward to it every day! I finished my 90 days and I felt so accomplished! I didn't want to stop. I lost 20lbs with my first round of P90X! I wanted more and I ordered Chalean Extreme and finished that! What I love about Beachbody programs is that THEY WORK! They actually work! I will never step foot in a gym again unless it's for a Turbo Kick class!

So, what's the point of this thread you ask? Well, I've been at this journey for 3 years now; I'm a completely different person. If anyone would've told me that health & fitness would be my passion, I would've laughed in their face! Even though I've lost a little over 40lbs and completely changed my lifestyle, I still have days where I don't feel 100% or I feel like I'll never see more results. If there's anything I've learned in this journey, it's that I am my own worst enemy! And that is the truth for anyone on their own journey. I still have things I want to work more on, places I want to be more toned, more pounds I'd like to lose but you have to have confidence in what you're doing and know that anything is possible......anything! It doesn't happen overnight but it will happen! I still fight with my scale! :grumble: I still have to fight temptation but I continue to get up every day and push that play button! Because every day you push play, every day you get up and move is one day closer to where you want to be!

So, for all of you out there who are struggling with motivation or who may not have the support or who think you're just stuck in a rut, you're not! You can conquer anything! Just know that you can do it! Once you get started, your body and mind will start to change gradually and you will be well on your way to success! Before you pic up that piece of candy or cake (or whatever your temptation is) think about how it will set you back, think about how you'll feel after you eat it; that's what I do and it helps! Small steps will lead to big results!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope it's helped for someone who's struggling or having a hard day. Because we all have them but just know that there are others out there who have had that same bad day or gave in to that temptation and they need a pick me up! So, let's do this together!

And remember......don't ever give up!!!! You can do anything you set your mind to!

Deb

So, see, I'm having one of those weeks. I've been sick for 2 weeks now and haven't been able to workout, and it's driving me nuts but I'm pushing forward, getting my rest and ready to push play next week! Positive thinking people! It's all about being in a positive state of mind!

How is everyone doing out there?!!!

I workout at home. So I use the exercise bike a lot even though the neighbours don't like it, I have plenty of dvds like zumba, tae bo, 30 day shred. I have a wii so I have some workouts for that plus I love just dance 2 that has just come out! I am not doing much at the moment while my boyfriend is recovering from an operation but this time next week he will be back at work so I can workout more then. What do you do for your workouts?

    Simone,

I workout at home too. Currently, I'm doing a hybrid schedule of Chalean Extreme and Turbo Fire. I still have about 10lbs I'd love to lose but I've built so much muscle that it's hard and I keep letting that stupid number on the scale mess with my mind. I know it's the inches that matter most but us girls get so caught up with that number! lol

I have the 30 day shred videos too; I love Jillian! I've also done Zumba too and love it!

Sorry to hear about your boyfriend, hope he feels better soon. Hope you're having a good day!

    Hi Deb,

I haven't got those workouts but people on here get great results from them. Have you tried p90x? I haven't but I'd like to. I have about 15lb to lose but it is a real struggle. Gotta leave for work soon...another long day at work but then it's the weekend!
  • enjoyed your post, will help me out for sure!!!
