Juicers, How do you use your pulp?

I got a juicer for Christmas and I am really excited about incorporating juicing into my daily routine either for breakfast or a snack. I don't want to throw away the pulp, I hear some people use it in cooking or other things. I am just looking for ideas of how I can use the pulp and any juicing recipes would be great too.

Why not just eat whole food, pulp and all. It makes no sense to me to have a piece of equipment to remove pulp/ fiber from a whole food to drink the juice and then figure out how to add back the pulp/ fiber into the diet.

I get that everyone isn't interested in juicing. But there is really no need to discourage those who like to or would like to. My husband bought me an expensive juicer for Christmas and it will be used. I hate the taste of kale, but juiced and mixed with other veggies and fruit it is quite good.
  • I got a juicer as well for christmas :D and I used it for the first time last night :) made orange juice. one whole bag n I got 1 qrt. lol tasted really good though and I did add back some of the pulp. Im thinking maybe making muffins with the pulp or adding it to jello or yogurt or maybe sugar free ice cream. Im going to do some research on it and ill let you know what I find out. Happy new year ;) n happy juicing!

I haven't juiced in a while, but I wonder if you could use the pulp for the veggies (especially carrots which are awesome to juice!) for vegetable stock? Or would it strain out? Or to mix into other veggies for a blended soup? I never thought of that but it seems like a good idea, especially thinking of carrot and apple pulp mixed with root vegetables. Let us know what you do with it!

Soups and stocks sound like a great idea. I think next time I will separate the fruit and veggie pulp so I can use the veggie pulp in cooking. I may also use some of the pulp in smoothies too.

I heard people use their juice pulp to make crackers. Haven't tried it but sounds very useful !

When I was using my juicer, I would eat the pulp. Never tried making soup but it sounds delicious.

Pulp bread or crackers sound like a good idea. Glad to see there are so many options.

I pop it into soups. If you're making a veggie juice also containing apples and lemons feel free to put that in the soup! Nothing wrong with apple pulp in your soup

I put the remains of a juiced pineapple in the freezer once. It was like a sorbet!

Once I added pulp from a carrot apple concoction to a boxed vanilla cake and it tasted like carrot bread, pretty darn good. I'm not sure of the ratios though b/c it was something I did on a whim.

I've never done a cleanse. So good luck to you. I hope those hunger pangs go away
  • You can use it for compost. I keep mine in a bowl for a few days and then dump it in my yard where my garden will be. Also, check out this website, I just got a juicer too and this site was fantastic! Justjuice.org

I decided to make turkey stock with leftover holiday turkey and I threw the pulp in there. This was my first time making stock from scratch and re-purposing pulp and it was a success. I also threw in some carrots, celery and onions in the stock. After simmering almost all day, I discarded the pulp and veggies and made turkey barley soup. It was pretty tasty. My husband also just bought a magic bullet, so i'm sure I will be using some of my pulp in my smoothies as well.
