does painting count?

I'm going to have to skip the gym tonight to paint my bathroom (started on it this weekend and it needs a 2nd coat of primer). Should I wear my hrm and count that as exercise?

Yes! You are moving aren't you? It's not like you are skipping the gym to sit on the couch. I am sure there is a calorie calculator out there that would tell you how many calories you have burned painting.0

I didn't have a hrm but I did count it as I general cleaning since you make alot of the same motions as you would cleaning. The Exercise database has two different levels of cleaning.0

How big is your bathroom?
Seriously, what do you normally do in a day? Do you have your settings at "lightly active"? If so, I wouldn't count it as exercise. Your Heart Rate Monitor really is best when used for sustained aerobic activity. They aren't designed to establish a base caloire expenditure or anything less than aerobic.
That said, I use mine for walking and subtract the BMR from the calories used. I don't know how accurate the numbers are, but it makes me feel better.
Here's a great blog about it:

How about that. I looked it up on MFP and it wasn't there. I had painted all the trim on the house. Well I still need to do a couple of windows. Hopefully I will get that done today. Then I'm going to paint my bedroom and stain the bedroom floor.0 -
I would log it, because it is movement, outside of your regular daily activities.0

I wasn't sure....its not like my heart rate will go up drastically, but its definitely more than sitting on the couch.
thanks everyone!0
