How much should I aim to lose a week?

I'm 5'5 and my starting weight was 150lbs, I'm now at 147lbs and would like to get down to about 125lbs, maybe 120lbs depending on how things go.

I'm aiming to lose about 20-30lbs, so was wondering how much I should aim to lose a week? I'm torn between 1lb and 1.5lbs.

Any advice?

    I would go for 1 pound a week and don't be disappointed if you can't achieve that much. At your size it's going to be a slow go but don't give up!

    This is a pretty good rule of thumb:

    If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
    If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
    If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
    If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
    If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

    I would say 1lb/wk should be your max, assuming you want to keep the weight off when you get to goal. :bigsmile:

    You could make your goal be 1.5, but if you are only losing 1 pound a week - it's still a loss! Good luck to ya! :flowerforyou:
