Sabotage or just 'being nice'?

So the last time I saw my sister in law she told me I looked like I had lost a lot of weight, and then proceds to tell me I shouldn't lose to much more. I have lost 40lbs but currently weigh 220! So I have a lot more to loss. My sis in law has her own food issues and is IMO a closet 'bindge/purge" . Does she not want me to get thin because it would somehow (in her mind) take being 'the skinny one' in the family away from her? Idk I just found it strang. Opinions please?

likely, there was not that much thought into it. People have aa hard time adjusting to other people's changes.

There are very few situations where people intentionally sabotage other people's weight loss. There are very many situations where people perceive that others are sabotaging them.

Most people just offer food because, in general, people like food and it makes them happy. It's an inherent human thing to share food with people we love.

As far as people commenting not to lose weight- it's just because when we see people close to us look "different" it's startling, even off putting, even when they look good. LOTS of people will say this to you along the way- just ignore it and do you.

QFT. You do what you gotta do to get where you wanna get, and let the back-handed comments slide by without sticking.

Never underestimate how far insecure, small-minded people will go to drag you down to their level once you start accomplishing goals that make you, in their minds, a better person. Go with your gut instincts, shut out her negative advice, and do what is right for you and your body.
