Sugar during that time of the month.

I know we all get choco cravings and general food cravings. However, is it normal to get overall sugar and salt cravings? Or do cravings range person to person? This is really freaking me out.

They completely vary from person to person. We don't in fact, all crave chocolate. I rarely crave sugar in any form, nor deep-fried things. That said, don't EVER get between me & a source of salt. Or freshly baked bread. Also? Anyone threatening my cup of tea is just asking for trouble.

Guidelines I've seen suggest checking possible nutritional underpinnings, especially for new cravings, but not to really worry unless you're eating stuff not usually considered food (chalk, clay, etc.)

Did you just get your period or somethin? Congrats!
  • Thanks. One more question is it possible, to crave something even when you've burnt yourself out of it?

Could you explain what it means to burn yourself out of a food item? Like you exercised it off, or you ate massive quantities of it until you were eventually sated?

Yep, I feel like that. But only few days before my period. Various sweets, chocolate. I have talked with my friends and a lot of them are the same way. Don't worry.

I wouldn't massive quantities but enough you've had enough of the substance yet your body still wants more.

Yes, that does seem like your basic definition of an insatiable craving

I want sugary things and salty things, but if I get started I'll just go for anything within my reach. I also get an overall yucky lazy feeling and have to force myself to exercise. It's generally better after a workout, but it's a struggle just to put on my sneakers. Stupid hormones.

I too crave chocolate. But I started calcium with vit. D and magnesium. And I noticed I had little to no chocolate craving last cycle. I read later that when we crave certain things it's out bodies needing something else. Chocolate craving is the body needing magnesium. Maybe it's not exactly true, or won't help all, but it's Worth a shot!

I crave chocolate in vast quantities. And sometimes I crave fish. It's really strange.

I've heard of this too but I never really considered it. I'll look into it and see how it goes.
