I work out 6-7xs a week and ALWAYS break a sweat (more like I sweat buckets) but I've been noticing that I usually come in a few hundred milligrams over where I'm supposed to be on my salt intake. Should I be worried and cut back or will it balance out?

You're young, so as long as you don't have any genetic heart or BP problems it won't be a problem-as long as you keep drinking the water...

I am assuming your sodium is set at 2500 mg, if you are going over that daily, thats not good. You need to keep your sodium around 1500mg, less if possible.

If your sodium is set at 2500mg you don't want to go over that, but you do need more sodium when you're exercising since you lose a fair amount from sweating. If you're eating a lot of processed foods try to reduce the amount that you eat since they are loaded with unnecessary amounts of sodium. I rarely eat processed food and don't eat at restaurants much. I make all my food at home and I'm consistently under my sodium goal. Try eating more vegetable and fruits and more natural foods in general and you shouldn't go over.
  • Thanks for all of the great advice guys!!! I was looking over my past entries and I think I noticed where the problems started. I have been training for a Tournament and have greatly increased my protein levels using mostly tuna. I'm going to kick my Starkist habit and try to prepare my own from now on. Thanks again! :)
