Hello guys

Hi, my name is Justin. I am an ex-athlete from high-school and over the past 3-4 years since my graduation I have been losing hope in ever finding a decent weight to where I will feel more inclined to get out there and live life. My weight has always been a problem, for as long as I can remember. Throughout my life I was always depressed about how much I weighed and thus that always led me to eat more.

Now that I am 21 and see that being fat is not an inescapable life to live, but that I can change. I have been working my butt off for the past 2-3 months now and have dropped from 335 pounds to 290 pounds. Even though I am down a lot of weight I still feel very unattractive, thus making it impossible for me to want to go out and live life. my goals may be far fetched but I plan to lose another 65-75 pounds and join the military so that I can make myself into something.

Any keys to success anyone feels like sharing? I would love to accept any advice people can give me, I feel like I have a little devil and angel on each shoulder urging me to keep going and to give up at the same time.

Thank you, for the encouragement. Maybe it will get easier mentally as time goes on.
  • It seems like you have been doing a great job already! Keep it up. Just remember that you are young and the habits you develop now will likely stick with you for life. If you keep this up and don't quit, you will be thanking yourself when you turn 30 (trust me on that). And know that everyone has inherent value...and that value is NOT dependent on how you look, how much money you have, or what your job is.

Your goals definitely aren't far fetched!

    My advice is:

Use calorie counting to your advantage. Eat foods you like. Mix them with foods that are very good for you.
Find some support, but don't tell your dream to people who won't support you.
Keep talking to people. We're all here with similar goals, so we all believe in you, because it makes us believe in ourselves!

Best of luck to you! You will do it!
  • Great Job on your accomplishments so far! Be proud of yourself! When I lost weight, I went from 235 to 195...And I was in heaven...but I worried (and was told) I was still fat. That let me down. I believed I was still fat, even though I worked really hard to get there. I listened to myself and others and then gained weight again....now I am at 250...ughh! I just suggest that you just be proud of yourself...and be confident...know you WILL get to your goal...and the amount you want to lose is not impossible...you have every right to join the military...just like the next guy. I know you can get to your ideal weight, and you can see you have already accomplished something you never thought was possible.. you started above 300 and went below 300...what why stop there?? You can do it! Congrats and Be Proud!
