Kale

So I've tried Kale because I read about all the benefits of it. I really like it too! SCORE! However, I just read today that kale is not good for people with hypothyroid because it slows it down. Ugh!! I'm so disappointed because I should stay away from it considering I have Hashimotos. Womp Womp.

Perhaps talking to your doctor about it is better than reading random recommendations? Has you doctor specifically told you not to eat kale? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. You can get all sorts of goofy recommendations on just about any food on the internet.0

My doctor hasn't said anything, but I will bring it up to her when I go in a few weeks. Until then I won't eat it because I don't need my thyroid working any slower than it already does.0

I would bet it's pesticides on/in the plant. You got a level head. Ask the doc. I have eating Kale for over 2 years now with no sign of anything different. Been tested for thyroid and it's normal.0

Yes i was just reading that yesterday as well. I don't have a thyroid problem but I eat a lot of spinach which is another green (along with cruciferous veggies like brussel sprouts and Cauliflower) that they said could stress the thyroid. I would talk to your doc as well. For those without thyroid issues I guess moderation is best. It's a good reminder that even the healthiest of things-dark green veggies- can be overdone at least for women!0
