Insanity Week 1 Complete, my thoughts.

I started to do Insanity a couple years ago, but actually threw out my back during week one, and stopped for a while...instead I ended up running and training for several half marathons and a full marathon over 2012, and 2013.
Since I really hate running in cold, sub-zero temperatures, I decided to give Insanity a try once again.
I can say I was disappointed in my results for the fit test, I really thought I'd do better, but it's a starting point, I plugged away at the next day.
Day 2 - Plyo Cardio Circuit....wow, this was tougher than I remember....really had to take much longer breaks and had to sit out of an entire circuit!! I attribute that to the extreme headache I was getting. I had been getting these during my workouts, and it kind of concerned me, but I plugged along and did what I could.
Day 3 - Cardio Power and Resistance...I liked this a bit better, it was tough, and again, I had to take extended breaks and sometimes just sit out of an exercise or two, not an entire set like the day before.
Day 4 - Cardio Recovery...I liked this, although I can't sit in a lunge position for as long as I'd like, but that will change over time I'm sure. Noticed the headaches were getting better here.
Day 5 - Pure Cardio...I'm a fan. I had to take extended breaks, but no more than like 30 seconds extra on a few of the break times, and I wasn't keeping up, but it's the first week, and they're in shape, I'm not LOL. No headache.
Day 6 - Plyo Cardio Interval...I lasted MUCH longer than the first time around. I took some extended breaks again, but I was able to keep things going through a lot of it, and I didn't sit out any of the workouts...sure I took a break, but then got right back to it.
Day 6 was the first time I used an HRM instead of taking it manually. My max was 198, and my average was 171....my calorie burn is pretty way off I think at 730 calories (5'9", 190lbs)....but as the weeks go by we'll see where it settles in at.
Day 6 was encouraging because I noticed results from the week before, and figuring out that my headaches were because I just didn't work out after my marathon and surgery for over 3 months was a boost too.
Week 2 bring it on.

Hi there, Ive just completed my first week of insanity aswell. Yes that plyo circuit is a killer. Even so I have kind of missed it today as today is my rest day. Looking forward to tomorrow to see if I find it any easier0

Rest day for me too. My schedule is weird so my workouts are done overnight...so I get two workouts in on Saturday....work 3rd shift and sleep and do it again, I do get to do this at work
I wouldn't say I'm "missing" it though LOL....I'm more than happy to sit on my *kitten* today and not do anything but watch football.0 -
Thank you for posting this! I am thinking of starting Insanity and tend to think I'm a failure if I can't do everything right off. Your "they're in shape and I'm not" comment really hit home. Thank you for your daily results, it helps me see that I'll get there eventually.0

I'm looking forward to comparing week 1 to the end of week 4 before the rest week and seeing where I am.
I think that'll I'll be more surprised than anything....good or bad, who knows LOL.0
