Hey, so i spent some time in our forum today and was shocked how many people eat just about 1200cal a day and some still wanna cut! :noway: :sad:
Just to tell you some basics about nutrition, your body burns calories and uses energy no matter what you're doing, even when sleeping. For me its 1400kcal, thats what my body would need to survive if i lay in coma!!
Calculator here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/
Just with getting up you burn even more cals. Esecially with some fitness and sports. So you need to add even more cals!
Calculator here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/
To loose weight take your second number and cut upto a deficit of 500cal, but not lower otherwise your body will go in starvation mode and you wont loose anything!
These are just some guidelines, but be nice to your body, everybody deserves to be healthy!
PS: excuse my bad english please :flowerforyou:

Thank you dear , I'm trying to get back on the right way , read my last topic , I've started with 1250 today and I plan to raise it 200 more calorie a week by week from now till i reach 1700 I hope my body will not gain any weight while recovering from eating disorder0

Take the weight you want to get to, and multiply by 13. That's what I learned in a weight loss class. That's what you eat to maintain that weight. So, if I want to be 135 pounds, that means if I eat 1700 calories a day, my body will not be able to "feed" more than 135 pounds of me. I'm 5'7"
diabetes is bad as it starves your muscle (including your heart) and brain and ... if you eat too little, you're doing that damage without having a "medical condition".
We're here to get healthy, to avoid damaging our body with poor food choices. You can do it! Use a calculator or nutritionist but 1200 calories is too low unless you are really petite. Put it into your profile, but dont go below it!0 -
Hey, you probably will gain a little, but you still can get rid of it afterwards and then it will stay away and you'll feel awesome!
I read you last topic and you can be so proud of yourself for taking this step! Must be hard for you but at mfp you'll get support for sure!0 -

yupe I raised it up today and nothing happened accept feeling more comfortable , and tomorrow I'm having a cheat on my relatives wedding but after wards I'll get back into 1250 again , I will not punish myself , I'm not going to weight myself probably for month to stop distracting myself , Thank you for ur support dear0 -
Remember that those 1400 cal would just maintain your weight so if you wanted to lose weight while in that coma you would need to have less than 1400 cal. I agree going lower than 1200 or not including exercise in your calculations can cause problems and one should only do that under the care of a doctor. I am at the lowest for MFP due to illness but I add in all my walks,housework etc when I can do them and eat more to try to keep my calorie deficit even. The calorie deficit is an important figure to work with and too much will cause the body (as you pointed out) to go into starvation mode. So for me, 1200 is the lowest I can go most days and that is less than a 200 cal deficit.0

@bvifun Sure, for some people in situatios like that 1200cal is totally okay, but its just not usual and there are girls who do sports and burn a lot more then they eat. Its all about the net calories..
@golargbgbg1 cheats are great0
