I read alot on here that my WONDERFUL MFPeeps are donating clothes to Goodwill and local ministries and that is amazing! Just one suggestion....

I used to work in my downtown area and there were alot of homeless people (mostly men) who don't have transportation to get to those facilities. Some of them are currently on drugs and don't feel appropriate going churches for assistance or are turned away for those reasons. These people are homeless and freezing, too! :frown:

Most of us know the 'bad side of town' where we live....drive by and take a tub of sweatshirts and old clothes. I did that and sometimes still take a bag of 50 McDonalds buscuits and these grown men are appreciative to the point of tears. While I don't condone some of the reasons that keep them from charity, they still deserve help and love, too.

**Women, make sure you take a buddy or your husband when you go, some of these areas can be dangerous**

I think one of the charities that take donations around here, specifically go out and work with these men--- :-)

we have groups in austin like the Loaves and Fishes project that make the rounds and do this. You need to be in a group in these areas--it is not a solo activity for anyone, male or female.

That is a great suggestion. I know that when I donated our clothes, the Sisters with the Friends of the Poor give to those who come for help and to those that they have to find to offer help. It is such a great feeling to know that maybe one person does not have to worry about being warm or having clothes to put on their children.
