Losing Weight To Beat Infertility?

Options
Hi there!

My husband and I suffer from Unexplained Infertility. We've been TTC for more than 3 years, and have been through 2 rounds of IVF. In total there have been 5 losses. My cycles are textbook, but I have a bicornuate uterus. We're currently adopting internationally, as our last loss was a bit much, but we've decided to start TTC again, and I've settled myself into a good routine recently to help get healthy (and take off some pounds too!).

I run a private group on here called Fit For Future Families for people who are in a similar situation. And there is also a private "grad" group for members who beat infertility so we can all stay in touch. We tend to become quite close, as you can imagine!

I am looking for friends in the same situation for mutual support, and ofcourse you are welcome to join the group as well.

I hope to hear from you!

I had the same problem I had my first child when I was in my early 20's and it took me 18 months to get pregnant with him which I didn't find unusual, but when he was 3 we started trying for #2. Took me a little over 5 years to become pregnant again we tried like crazy for 3 years and then we stopped trying and accepted the fact it wouldn't happen and then surprise!!!! I had a healthy baby girl back in December. It can happen so do not give up hope, yes losing weight will help you conceive and it will help you have a healthier pregnancy.

I just got married this summer and even though my husband and I are not ready for kids yet, one of my motivations for trying to lose weight and develop better habits is to be in the best health I can be when we eventually do start trying in a few years.

We've both been told by doctors that it might be difficult to have children, so I'm already preparing myself for the worst. I'm just hoping that I can give us both the best possible shot when we do decide we're ready for a baby.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, but maybe there's a child somewhere in the world who desperately needs you as a mommy and you never would have considered adoption without things playing out the way they did. I know that can never make up for the sadness you've gone through, but sometimes even the worst situations have a little bit of a silver lining.

ADD ME! I recently started using this APP again. Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for about 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with PCOS and amenorreah (absent periods) about a year ago. I was tried on CLOMID with doses up to 200mg and my body still did not ovulate. That was a big eye opener for me. Now I'm back on track and want to lose the weight so I begin to ovulate on my own, like I once did when I was in High School. Good luck with everything (:

I am glad I found this! My hubby and I have a beautiful son, it took us 2 years to have him with the help of surgery and clomid. We have been trying for a second baby for 2+ years and I am sick of taking clomid with no results and decided it is time to lose weight! I would love to lose about 40 lbs but I am taking it one pound at time! Good luck to you all out there!!

Congrats on conceiving!! Does the Metformin help with weight loss? I have read a little bit about it...I have also thought about trying low carbs but I know myself and I don't think I could stick with it.

Yes, the metformin helped with weight loss. It was 8 years ago, though, so I don't remember the specifics of the pounds.

Hi there! I have been TTC for a long time with no such luck, so I started seeing a fertility specialist last year.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I just have a sonohysterogram and found I have a polyp...and I also have a uterine abnormality. So now I am facing surgery :(

I tried 2 cycles of monitored clomid which did nothing for me, so we were going to start injections, but are being held back by needed surgery. I hope to be able to do injections in 1-2 months from now.

I would like to lose about 20 lbs to be healthier and hopefully the injections will help give us our first child.

Would love to talk to anyone going through similar things!!

I just wanted to say "good luck" to everyone also. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 28 due to ovarian tumors so weight was not an issue with my infertility. I have 2 internationally adopted children (my daughter is from China and is 9 and my son is 7 from Vietnam). I understand the desire to have biological children but wanted to say I could not love my children anymore than if I had given birth to them. If you go down the road of adoption then know it's such a WONDERFUL experience. Good luck again to all of you and whichever way it happens I hope you ALL get exactly what you want:)

I just wanted to give everyone a huge hug of encouragement and to offer my heartfelt wishes on conceiving. I'm one of those people who is fertile without birth control and who isn't inclined towards parenthood, but I have many friends with different issues who have been trying and trying so I get it.

I wish you all the best and I hope this year will be THE year for all of you...:)

One of my main reasons to lose weight is to increase my chances of having a baby. I'm 38 and need to lose about 20lbs to be "overweight." 55lbs would put me at the top of the "healthy" range. My bf and I have been trying for 8 months now - although at the moment we are long-distance, so that adds another crimp to it. He's okay with charting, OP tests, etc., but does not want to do anything "unnatural" like medicines or procedures. So .. the only way it'll happen is if the weight loss makes it happen.

I can't believe I didn't find this post sooner. I have been struggling with unexplained infertility for 5 months now. We have been trying to conceive for 3 years though. I had an HSG and a sonogram and everything came back great. My periods are also textbook 28-29 days. I have was on clomid starting at 50mg and went up to 150mg with no success. I finally went to see an RE and he's recommending me to do an IUI, with an hCG shot and clomid at 150 mg. I also started eating clean and working out regularly. We'll see what happens. And btw husband was also examined. He's perfect!

My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for 2.5 years. I have PCOS, but it is considered "controlled" with metformin as my cycles are now regular. We have had 3 unsuccessful IUIs and our next step is IVF (we have an appointment to plan it out in April). I am trying to lose some weight and develop much better eating habits so that we can give the IVF every chance of success. I have 2 lbs. left to bring my BMI down to the point where my doctor will do IVF, so almost there, I really need to lose it before my appointment in April. I do want to lose a lot more than that though! *HUGS* to everyone here in the infertility journey. I know how difficult it is!

I to had this exact problem. I seen a fertility specialist and was on some meds to help but they never did. I started working out 6 days a week to help with the stress and I wanted to lose some weight for fertility boost. I never lost more then 5 pounds but did lose 22.5 inches off my body. Went in and seen the doctor to start a fertility treatment and he did a pregnancy test as per before procedure process and BAM I was pregnant in on my own! So do it, it will help with your stress levels and it's life changing habits.

Wish you luck, add me if you ever have any questions.

It took me 3 years of trying with 5 losses ,and just 4 months after exercising I was pregnant!!
