I've followed keto for the last 16 months. Keto is low carb, moderate protein, and high fat. There are some great low carb and keto support forums here on MFP.

If you want to check out keto, here are some additional resources --
reddit keto FAQ -- read this all the way through. It will answer so much!

Keto subreddit - great for recipes, general info, and inspiring success stories

The keto calculator is based on info in "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" and is a great tool for anyone doing Low Carb. It will help you identify your TDEE, target calories for weight loss, and the macros to use here on My Fitness Pal.

You might find that MFP isn't a great place for low carb support. Many of the people here are focused (rightfully so) on calorie deficits rather than on cutting out specific foods or groups. Many of the people here seem to really dislike these sorts of diets for most people, though lots will respect it if you explain your own reasons for going this route.
One thing that helps me is remembering why I eat lower carb (I feel like a bloaty sloth when I eat too much wheat, and I get cystic acne when I eat dairy... not to mention my digestive system issues). I don't cut it all the way out because having a little bit here and there keeps me sane and while it impacts me, I find it's worth it to occasionally splurge.
This is a great recipe I found for primal fudge. It's not exactly low calorie (~80-100 cal per serving depending on your containers), but it really helped me to hold off the cravings. http://practicalpaleo.blogspot.ca/2011/06/primal-fudge.html
Anyways, good luck. If you have medical or even just comfort reasons for going low carb, there is no reason not to do it. Just remember that it's not necessarily low calorie so logging and measuring are both still very important.0 -
Hi,
I am also new to mfp and low carb dieting. Weight has been a struggle with me for a few years. I hope this site helps.0 -
That's really sad that people dislike others for not counting calories but watching carbs. Good thing I'm using it for both. It tells me how many carbs and potassium and sodium..etc in everything I eat. Not just calories. That's why I like using it. Cause it delivers for all.0

I've never heard of keto, thanks for the post. I will definitely look into it.0
