Knee pain

I was laying in bed the other night when I felt a horrible pain right below/ at the tip of my knee cap. I just felt it again when I was sitting indian style and OWWWEEE, it hurts. I am confused to what this is from. I have felt no pain when doing my workouts, like running and kickboxing. I have been icing it, but do you guys think it's serious? Should i get it looked at? Who would i go to? What kind of dr.?

Although I wouldn't get too worried about it, if its out of the ordinary pains we tend to get from working out, be it running or kickboxing, then it couldn't hurt to get it looked at. I have bursitis and tore my miniscus last year, and niether of them bother me while working out, it's when I'm just going through my day to day activities that they tend to flare up. You'd most likely need to see an orthopaedic specialist.0

Well you are young, it could be that you strained something but I will tell you women have weak knees by nature and at some point it will hurt to sit indian style just because you've got a little wear on you
Since I am not a professional I will give you some basic idea of what to do, ice it, rest it and try not to put any unusual stress on it for a week or two. this would mean continue working out but don't increase your cardio or weights during this time. If it doesn't go away in about 7-10 days you may want to talk to a doctor.
Other than that I would say it's normal to have little aches and pains as we get older and you're not a teenager anymore :laugh:0 -
Wai t for a f ew days but if it persists see a physio. The most likely cause of that kind of pain is patello-femoral maltracking but responds really well to the right kind of quads exercises0

careful running. I have a lot of knee pain due to running, so I stopped. Just a fast paced walk might be better. I had water in my knees though, you would be able to feel it. Its swollen.0
