Hi everyone, I was wondering what is everyones weekly weight lose goal set to. I'm at 1.5 lbs per week. Does anyone do 2lbs per week? If so is it hard to keep up at 2lbs a week?

Most people when they start put 2 lbs a week.. cause hey who doesn't want to lose weight that fast.. then they realize when they get 1200 calories.. that either they can try to do it (and mostly fail) or raise their calories..
2 lbs a week is doable if you have a lot to lose, but anything around 20-30lbs you probably won't maintain 2 lbs weekly.0 -

This!^
How do you keep it up? .....you don't. If you try to lose too quickly, you can lose muscle mass too.0 -
Thanks for the input, i was down to anout 282 about Septemebr 2013 got a desk job n BOOM back up. Very dissapointing. I was very active though due to coaching on my feet all day and also lifting so i didnt really need to count my calories. Now im at a desk job and i see that i have to in order to get back there.0

When I started with MFP, I was at 220 and wanted to get to 175, so that was 45 lbs. I started at 2 lb/week, and had no problem keeping that up. At 195, I changed it to 1.5 lb/week, and then at 180 I went down to 1 lb/week.
The two weeks of Christmas and New Years I basically just maintained, but I'm just 3 lbs. from my goal at this point and eating at a 500 calorie/day deficit is so easy that I think I could do this indefinitely.
What I plan to do when I hit my goal is maintain the same deficit indefinitely during the week, and then I'll have some extra room to splurge on the weekends and still be able to maintain.0 -
I'm trying for 2lbs a week at 1200 calories per day. I'm drinking a gallon of water everyday. Aiming to burn 500 calories 5 times per week at the gym with a combo of weight training, yoga, spin and cardio. It is hard. On top of that I'm back at my desk job today after 2 weeks of holiday. All I seem to want to think about is when my next meal time is and how far along I am on the gallon of water.0

I suggest 1/2-1lb per week max, otherwise it seems the cals mfp gives you are quite low and difficult to maintain.0

I should also add that I have been eating back my exercise calories. This makes it a lot easier, even when my base calories for the day approached 1200, because I exercise almost every day, and was eating more in the range of 1700-1800.0

I did that level for a while then I backed off the closer I got to my goal weight. It is harder and takes a little more focus I believe. You can go back and forth and see how it feels. I am currently doing 1 lb a week but i am less then 10 lbs from my goal. I actually have a goal range not an exact weight. But 2 lbs a week is very doable. If you eat back your calories after exercising I thin kit's easier too.0

I tried to set it in the beginning at 2 lbs per week but due to my height (5'1). I think the highest I had with MFP was around 1.5 lbs a week. At 1200 calories I am set to lose 1.2 lbs now. I do eat my exercise calories back and work out six days a week so I only have one day at 1200. Honestly I usually go over a little but that day does suck and I am not sure I could keep this up if that is all I could ever eat.0

I have a lot of lose so my goal is 2.5 week.
I started right before the holidays so I've blown my daily allowance several times. Even so, I dropped 12 lbs in the first two weeks with almost no exercise (raising the question of just how much ****ing food did I use to ingest).
But this week looks like I am on track for 3 lbs, a dramatic slow down after the initial water weight loss. Also I've spent much of the week sitting or laying in bed due to an injury so that's probably a factor in the slow down. I guess the real test begins now.0 -
As the others have said, it is doable but the intake is low. I am relatively short at 5'2 and with 30 to lose it is a good starting spot but eventually you can increase calories as you increase stamina and length of workout routines.
The other key with it is to eat small amounts frequently and stay hydrated, it will help.
If I get too hungry I tend to binge on a meal which hurts me in the long run.
You will do well!
