Help with my goals

Hi my name is Wyatt and I am 5 11 and 165 pounds. I play tennis and I want to play college tennis. I want to get in better shape before my high school season starts on February 25. I want to lose 10-15 pounds of fat. Can i do this safely? During the season and this summer I want to gain back the weight I lost with equal or greater in muscle. I have a fit bit and I have begun to use mfp. Can someone take a look at my diary and see how I am doing? Could someone help mentor me. I am so confused right now.

You'll need to open your diary to the public for us to be able to take a look at it.
  • I fixed the issue.

The only thing that I would really suggest is that you work on increasing your protein. MFP sets their default fairly low and you aren't even reaching it. Increasing your protein while losing will help you retain your muscle mass now so that you won't have to work as hard to rebuild it later.

For starters, your protein is quite low. Way too low to maintain lean muscle mass.

If you increase your protein intake, try to get most of your calories from meats and vegetables, and run a 500/day calorie deficit, you should be able to lose a few pounds by the season's start. Cutting more than that can seriously hamper performance. During the season, if you want to build muscle, increase the proteins, eat a calorie surplus, and incorporate strength training.
  • How many calories should I be eating right now?
  • I took my calorie amount a day from fit bit and I subtracted that by 500. Is that the right number?

I don't have a fitbit, so I can't comment on that. Did you have MFP give you a calorie amount based on your goals?
