Hit a wall

So, I'm throwing this out there hoping someone is in a similar situation or has any advice for me. I have always been a bit of a gym nut. With children came many changes, one of which was I can no longer go to the gym. We have a treadmill and I have several DVD's that I do religiously. I am on a Jillian Michael's kick right now. In my 20's, I could drop 5 lbs no problem, but I fear my metabolism has caught up with me. Currently I am 34 years old. I am 5'2" and weigh around 115lbs. I wouldn't consider myself overweight but I would like to tone up a bit...things did not return to their previous locations after my last baby and I'm not enjoying myself in a bathing suit at the moment. I eat right and average around 1200 calories a day. My workout routine is generally around 30-60 minutes depending on how late the kiddos sleep. When I first got back into working out after my youngest was born, I saw an immediate change and lost 5 lbs (I was 120 after the birth). But not much has happened since then. When working out 5 days a week, I see a little difference but I guess I'm looking for more. Any tips or advice?

  • As counter-intuitive as this sounds you might not be eating enough. I found a very good post (on this website) describing how if you don't eat enough calories your body starts hoarding them much more jealously and losing weight becomes difficult if not impossible. Eating the right amount really helps some people.
Whether this applies to your situation, I'm not sure.

Eat more. If you're not trying to lose weight, you should be eating more than 1200 calories. If all you're wanting is to change your shape without losing weight, eat at or near your maintenance level, and lift heavy weights.
  • I do question how much I eat...wish I had a nutritionist around! Anyone know of an online one?
