Looking to expand my support group!

Hey hey. My name is Wendy and I've struggled with my weight my entire life. A few years ago I was able to kick my routine in the behind and get down to my ideal weight of 130 lbs, but last year I was involved in an automobile accident that rendered me unable to exercise in the way that I was accustomed to by jogging or mountain biking. In addition to the accident I have been working towards a Bachelor's degree at Cal State Long Beach as a full time student in addition to working nearly full time. But 2014 is here and time to make a change! No more excuses!!!! I have about 70 lbs to drop and I'm looking to expand and network with people that have the same drive and motivation as I once used to. I've never utilized this feature on MFP but have high hopes that this will pressure me into feeling more accountable for my actions

hey Wendy!
My name is Tina and I am brand new to this website.
I have also lost a bunch of weight 3 years ago, about 30 pounds......then I got back into my old habits of drive-thrus and pubs with the girls. It took about a year to gain the 30 back....I also had surgery last summer I have now managed to pack on an additional 15!!
I joined a weight loss centre on jan 2 and I have lost 6 pounds already. I'm 5' 9" and weigh 198 now. I also started back at the gym with a personal trainer.
I see you are busy with school too which doesn't help. I work in sales and travel a lot through Canada...this means dining out which is my biggest downfall.
Do you eat out a lot or do you cook a home? The key for me has been to spend time at night to pack a lunch and snacks to get me through the day...being prepared is key. If I am not prepared I will for sure hit a mcDonalds.
I have read that when losing weight - 80 percent is what you eat and 20 percent is exercise!
Something to think about...lol
Hope to hear back.0 -
Hi Tina,
That's awesome that you've been able to drop 6 lbs so far Keep up the good work! I definitely try cooking meals whenever I can but if I'm in a pink I'll opt for fast food and try to get the healthiest thing I can on the menu. I actually heard a very interesting story this morning on the radio where a science teacher was able to drop over 30 lbs in just 3 months while eating 3 McDonald's meals a day and walking, here's the link http://www.today.com/health/man-loses-nearly-40-lbs-eating-only-mcdonalds-2D11863528 so fast food isn't TOO terrible when eaten the right way. Also on the weekends I've switched from drinking beer to wine (not calling either good for you, but that way I can still have some fun without feeling too guilty about it). Luckily my boss whom I share an office with is a former personal trainer so I can pick his brain about what I should be doing. I'm going to send you a friend request so we can help motivate each other0 -
Added, let's walk this journey together.0

Hi Wendy, my name is Wendy too! Small world. I have about 45-60 lbs I'd like to lose (not sure what goal yet). Preferably before I go back to school Fall 2014. I'm motivated, and ready to get this weight off! I'm looking for friends also. I'll add you.
I'm 4'10, CW is 165. I'll open my diary to friends. Not saying I'm a perfect eater though, but I think it would help me with accountability.0 -
I am 23 years old, my height is 5'7 and I weigh 74 kg or 11 stone 6.. When I was about 19 I was between 9 and half stone and 10 stone but as a consequence of a sedentary lifestyle whilst studying I reached my highest ever weight in the summer of 2012 of 12 stone 7. Although I am no longer 12 stone 7 I would love to be 10 stone. Thanks for reading0

Hey Wendy,
I was almost at my goal weight at the end of summer thanks to this site/app, but this semester was a killer for me and I gained it all back plus some. Starting over in 2014.
Feel free to add me!0 -
Feel free to add me! I am on the same path of needing to loose 50-60lbs. I gained all of my weight by going to school and holding a full time job with a family. Now Im taking time for me. I want to feel the way I did several years ago!0

Hello! I am looking for more supportive friends on this site as well so I am held more accountable! My goal isn't as large but I am still very intent on training and toning and I would love some people to keep logging!0

Hi Wendy! I am a college student also and I have ideally about 50 more lbs to lose. I only started seriously using MFP January 2013, but I am on everyday now. Feel free to add me and anyone else can add me also! It is great to have support.0
