Salt!

Here I am thinking my diet is so healthy as I carefully select products with no sugar and high nutritional content and after just 2-3 days of using this great product I see that I am eating a huge amount of salt! This is such a great revelation: Trader Joe's Almond Milk Unsweetened: salt! California Sprouted Wheat Bread - salt! I wonder whether this is one of the culprits of me losing energy and getting spaced out and lethargic.

    Salt isn't all that bad for you and I've not heard of it causing lethargy or spaciness. Excessive sodium will lead to water retention as your body strives to maintain its osmotic balance, but excess amounts are simply excreted in your urine.

    Without knowing any information about you, my knee-jerk reaction is to say it's likely you are eating too little; it's the most common issue on the site and causes those symptoms.

    Since your diary is closed, can you give me any insight into about how many calories you're eating each day?

    also unless you have issues with water retention (blood pressure, kidney issues) then no need to be concerned about salt.
  • For the record, I too eat healthy and watch calories. However, I also want to cut back on sodium. It's a hard thing to do. Guess I will just have to try harder.

    Excess sodium causes high blood pressure. You can notice a difference after a few days of 1500 mg intake if you are currently consuming for than 2000 mg a day. If you're like me, in congestive heart failure, extra water retention makes you quite tired. It may effect you differently but it's something to keep an eye on. Talk to your doctor about it also check out
