I used this "program" before; shortly after getting a lapband. The program has some really good tools and the forums/boards offer an outlet to vent or to wave my own flag.
Let me cut to the chase: what is my motivation? Sure I want to lose weight, eat better, get fit, etc. But I'm here for two reasons: 1. my older daughter is getting married this next summer and she wants to see a lot less of me at her special day; 2. my doctor has been trying to get me to get serious about losing weight and maybe living much better.
Right now I am a Jabba the Hut big wad of goo. I love to snack. I am a diabetic using insulin and oral meds. I hoard food and will sell my soul for chocolate. I am 66, unemployed, my marriage is a shambles and I am killing myself with food. I can't imagine anyone wanting to help me -- especially since I got here on my own by a succession of bad choices and absence of a spine.
Not seeking comfort or pity. Just want to start moving in a new direction and living again.

They say that sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can rise to the top. I hope that things get better for you,and I also hope you find the guidance and support you need here. Good luck with your journey. You can do this!0

Sometimes it helps just to put out there what's rattling around inside your head. Cathartic. This is your starting point. Maybe you are Jabba the hut's gooey relation. It doesn't matter. What matters is you're putting out there who and what you are and allowing accountability. Today is a good day to start anew.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.0 -

Hi RolandWeary and Happy New Year to you. You have to start somewhere so this is where you start. I can't do this for you but if you want we can add each other with a Friend Request and maybe you'll find some motivation along the way.

When you really want something and are ready for it, you will find a way to make it happen. Until then, you will find excuses. So, ask yourself: Am I ready? How badly do I want this? Now go do it.

No pity needed. You know everyone has a story that is struggling with weightloss. It helps me to watch people that are worser off than me in order for me to get motivated not to get to their story. You Tube is full of stories both good and bad. Start watching because some of these stories end in death. We all have to ask ourselves do we want to live and how do we want to live. Start being selfish, surround yourself with people with your same goals. Stop beating yourself up their is only one YOU. Start loving yourself so that you will do what is needed. I recommend the Daniel Fast. First of all it will help you lose the weight fast without being hungry. But it is like a vegan diet on steroids. While you are fasting, you can use the spiritual side of the fast to get closer to God and get healed of whatever is pushing you to overeat. I started mine yesterday and it is already helping me and making me aware of everything that I put in my mouth. Check out http://www.ultimatedanielfast.com. They have devotional reading as well as veggie recipes to help you get through it. God speed!0
