I just read the book "The Shift' by Tory Johnson...and am so so SO motivated!
Looking for some MFP friends who have also been inspired by Tory's journey, and who want to share tips and to help keep each other motivated. I am a 52 female, and want to loose about 50 lbs.

  • You've already connected with me, but I wanted to put my 2 cents in about The Shift.

    I read the book in about 2 days...it's that easy a read. It kick started my motivation in a way that no other "diet" book has. I've got over 60 days under my belt (which is getting looser, thankyouverymuch) since reading The Shift, and I'm still going strong, still motivated as much as I was on day 1. It helps to have friends (real life and online) on MFP.

    Exercise tip: I never move--I have a sedentary job and lifestyle. One day, I downloaded the Striiv app (the Walkathon one, not the Striiv one...yet; available on iPhone currently and in beta for Android, I believe) and got a Striiv Play pedometer. I've connected with about 20 people on Striiv, and the motivation to walk is HUGE. I mean, MASSIVE. Husband didn't believe me at first--he does now. I've walked over 10,000 steps a day at least 5 days a week for the past six weeks.

    I truly hope to keep this motivation going. I hope we get more "Shift" people on board here!
