I do 4 egg whites, 1/8 cheese of mozzarella and onions and mushrooms, but I have 1260 calories.
Throwing away egg yolk and adding cheese
Some times when I hard boil them I just want to eat the yolk but I'd feel wasteful so I eat it all anyways.0 -
I like a under 200cal breakfast bagel:
A 100% whole wheat mini bagel
1 egg white with 2 mini sweet peppers chopped into it
(use a quarter tbsp of butter or earth balance to cook eggs and peppers)
And slice of avacado (1/8 of avacado)
Spinach leaves0 -

Does it matter what you do with the yolk? I mean the cholesterol in the yolk is much more then the cheese. What if the people with egg whites, just buy the egg whites in a box? I'm just saying you don't know if they are really wasting egg yolk.
Regarding the cholesterol in egg yolks - the idea that dietary cholesterol affects blood cholesterol levels has been pretty thoroughly debunked quite some time ago. The consensus is that 2/3 of the population experience zero blood cholesterol elevation from eating eggs, and the other 1/3 experience equal elevations of HDL and LDL, keeping the ratio (which is what's actually important) the same.
Oh, and the yolks contain 13 essential nutrients, including choline, folate, A, D, B-13, and iron.

:flowerforyou: yes, indeed. Yolks are a wonderful source of nutrients. :smooched:0 -
I use 1 whole egg and 2 whites0
-
I use one egg white and one whole egg.0

Do you ever have omelettes? If so, how many eggs/egg whites do you use? Thanks!!
I use 3/4 c of Egg Beaters, which is the equivalent to 9 whites, I believe. 75 calories, all protein.
I add fat free cheddar cheese, sliced ham, mushrooms, and avocado and salsa. HUGE omelette0 -
2 whole eggs, a little ham, chopped bell pepper, chopped onion and feta cheese - yum!
I don't see the point of eating just the egg whites. Sure you save calories, but the yolks make eggs taste good. Besides, the yolks are good for you too.
I eat eggs a couple eggs about 3 or 4 times a week. My bad cholesterol is a little high but my good cholesterol, as my Dr. says is "wow, off the charts!"0 -
I sometimes make an omelette like my mum used to.
Fry off some potato, bacon/ham and onion are optional but I love them, then when the potato is looking a little crispy add some vegetables, anything really, broccoli, celery, capsicum, beans, whatever you have that you need to eat and then when they are about cooked add an egg or three, mixed in with some milk and white pepper.
Serve over toast is best but with all the trimmings it can be a little calorie rich for someone on only 1200cals. Still super delicious!0 -

I love it when people say "capsicum" instead of "pepper". :happy:0 -
What can I eat that's super low cal & will keep me full. I can't eat breakfast but snack at night
my high protein and reasonably low cal snack is chobani greek yogurt. If I want something even lower cal, hardboiled egg does the trick.0 -
So many egg yolks going in the garbage
Waaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
^this
Every time someone throws out a perfectly good egg yolk and eats just the whites, I kick a puppy.*
Seriously, people, stop wasting delicious egg yolks.
Do it for the puppies.
(* Oh, relax...I don't actually kick cute puppies...
...I kick the ugly puppies. (What do you think I am, some kind of barbarian that would kick cute puppies?) )0 -
Now I am wondering what the people that make Egg Beaters do with the yolks.
Maybe they feed them to the ugly puppies that jof kicks.0 -
I LOVE omletes. I eat them as often as I have time to make them. I skip cheese and meat and go for 3 whole eggs instead. Tons of veggies. When the rest of my family is eating something I don't want I almost always go for eggs.0
-
i use one whole egg and 2 additional egg whites0

Omelettes, yum.
Sometimes, I use egg beaters. But more often than not, I just use 1-2 whole eggs or 2-3 egg whites. Mix in a bunch of vegetables and the taste is amazing. I especially love to mix in tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms. All this talk of omelettes is making me wish we could just get our grocery shopping done already over here.0 -
I love to eat egg whites on flatbread for breakfast from Subway. It is awesome with an orange juice. It costs under $3 also.0

I do egg white omelets (typically with those little cartons of all egg whites, but if I have to use a whole egg, I'll save the yolks and plan on making Rocco DiSpirito's spaghetti a la carbonara... so delicious) mostly to save on calories but I also benefit from the lower cholesterol, as diabetes and heart disease run in my family. I almost always do a veggie omelet with a tablespoon of lowfat cheese and maybe mix onion powder in the egg white0
-
Yep 3 eggs for me too. Low fat, low cal best thing for breakfast.0
-
hey if you have a minute add me on here sahill314 im going on ketogenic diet high fat low carb. ill keep you accountable if you would do the same for me0

The cholesterol in the egg is good cholesterol whereas in the cheese it's bad so you're better off with a full egg then just eating egg white, it's more filling and it's nutritious.0

He said it more eloquently than I (and less likely to be interpreted as an invitation for others to pile on), so I'll just say this^.0 -
I love it when people say "capsicum" instead of "pepper".
I forget that most people here are Americans and some have probably never heard the term capsicum. I am Australian and here we call them capsicums if they have no heat or chillies if they do, not bell peppers or hot peppers. The term capsicum doesn't sound strange to me until I have to tell other people that we call something a capsicum. It is a strange word isn't it...0 -
I usually do 3 egg whites with soy cheese, green or red peppers, and onion. Its very low cal so I usually have a large banana along with it as well and half a cup Greek yogurt0
-
I'm also in the pro-egg yolk camp. I genuinely don't understand the point of eating eggs without throwing at least one whole egg in the mix--pure egg whites don't even taste like eggs.0

I fail to see how this question applies only to people limiting themselves to 1200 calories. Just eat the damn eggs, yolk and all. If you're only eating 1200 calories, you probably need all the protein you can get anyway.0
