OIL-DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHAT KIND?

I like popcorn but not air popped. I snack on it almost nightly. one and one-half tablespoons of each oil seem to have the same amount of calories... does it matter then, if I use canola or vegetable or anything else, really? damndamndamn.. that 180 calories. OK I'll air pop. .. and maybe have a small hot chocolate with chambord.

    Calorie-wise, oils are much of a muchness. The difference come in flavour, smoking point and (I think) the different kinds of fat that can make them up.

    I like using peanut oil for popcorn, gives it an awesome flavour!

    Olestra isn't absorbed by the body...but there's that nasty side effect if you use too much...

    Check for trans fats, as long as it doesn't have trans fats you're probably fine.
