When do the pounds start to shed off extremely slowly?

Hi guys,
Just a question, I have started MFP about 4 months ago and I have not looked back since... I have lost a total of 47 pounds by eating right and exercising, but as I'm halfway through my goal... I have found that the pounds are not coming off as smoothly as it has the last couple of months, in fact it's coming off a lil under 3 pounds a month when I used to lose at least more than 6-8 pounds a month. I know this is to be expected.... But for those who have been here, at this stage, I'd appreciate if you could share your experience so that I am able to adjust my goals realistically and not be demotivated by this slow phase of progress.... Thanks any advise and thoughts would be much appreciated..

Make sure you adjust your goal to take into account your new weight, it doesn't do it automatically. But otherwise, when you decrease your deficit, pretty much, which happens when you don't have that much to lose unless you're ok with being hungry all the time, lol.0

It's going to take a while, especially if the last few pounds are "vanity pounds." It took me 4 months to lose 15 pounds, and my starting weight was already within a healthy range. I would suggest adjusting your MFP goals to losing 1 pound per week if you haven't already. When you get around 15-20 pounds left to lose, then adjust it again to .5 pound per week.
If you find you aren't losing ANY weight for an extended period of time, like a month or longer, it may be time to adjust your calorie goal. As you get closer to an ideal weight, your margin for error when counting calories gets very narrow. That food scale and the measuring tape become very important.0 -
Some people here would also suggest to try to eat at maintenance for a couple of weeks or a month and then cutting again like the other said: 1 pound a week or .5 if you have 15-20 pounds to loose. It worked for some people.0

I have the same problem as you & I still working on finding what will work for me to shed these last 20 lbs. I had lost 43 lbs but gained 10 back & not able to get under that again. However I am not giving up and will continue to try. The only advice I can give you and what someone gave me is: don't just look at the scale, look at your body's change overall. Measure yourself because if you don't see the weight drop you might see in the inches lost. Muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less room. I am going to keep this mind as I continue my journey. Good luck and congratulations on your loss!0

I generally eat at 1200-1600, and eat some of my exercise calories back... I'm on maintenance though these past two days..0 -

I was at a stand still when I was eating 1200 per day then I finally wrapped my head around eating more to weigh less. That was the hardest part, actually having the mindset that I can eat more and lose weight. Well I did after weeks and weeks and it finally happened for me. I set my cals to 1400 plus at back my exercise cals, then upped them to 1500 and lost too, and I am 45 years old. I recently gained a few extra pounds while living part time in India, so I am in calorie restriction mode (I do not believe in dieting, I eat healthy) so I am back to 1500 per day and losing.
So if you can, try to eat closer to 1600 than 1200, even a teaspoon of peanutbutter can help with getting some extra calories and protein.
Good luck and congrats on the weight loss, that is a pretty big deal!0 -
Funny you should ask, I started eating clean ( not the only weight loss method, not trying to start a debate) about 3 weeks ago and am really starting to feel the difference and my face and stomach are already starting to thin out also.......0
