Any runners out there?

I'm currently training for two half marathons - the Disney Princess in February and a Tampa one in March.

Feel free to add me!

I've signed up for my first half today!

There are a bunch of groups for runners on here. I posted to the Long Distance Runners group (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/94-long-distance-runners) asking for advice and got a load of good suggestions.
  • awesome! I did the half last spring, and it was no biggie, if you can run 8miles you are good to go. just make sure your sneakers are worn in. I got a few blisters on mine. lesson learned :). I will be doing the full in April.... to train my goal is to put in 40 miles a week..... Sounds like a lot of running to me. Its freezing right now in NY so I am not running outside anytime soon.

Hello! I did my first half in September and I'm registered for two in 2014 (April and September).

I'm a slooooow runner with walking mixed in at times. Feel free to add me.

I'm more of a 5k runner but running is my primary exercise. Feel free to add me too!

Hi! I've done a couple 5Ks, but I'm currently trying to become a real "runner" for the first time in my life. I'll be at the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend too! :D But I'll be running the 10K. My goals are to complete a half marathon by the end of this year or early next year, and do the NYC Marathon my last year of law school (a little under two years from now). Sending a friend request now!

I'm doing my first 1/2 in May. Pretty happy though as have done 2 x 10.5km races (1/4 marathons) in the last few months and am up to running 17kms (10.5 miles) so not much more to go to get a good handle on the 1/2 distance.

I'm planning to have run at least 4-5 1/2 marathon distances before I do my first official one. Then I can just concentrate on my time and enjoying the experience, rather than whether I can actually make it!

Feel free to add me if you're training for a 1/2 as well.

    :)

I've done a marathon [although it would truly be a stretch to say "run"] and two half marathons. My first half marathon time was 3:15 - and I was pretty miserable but finished. My second was 3:03 and I was the cheerleader for a group of first time runners, so I know I could have had a better time. In general, I run about 12 min miles. I do three minutes of running followed by 2 mins walking basically the entire time.. Unless I see a mile coming quickly or the END! Then I usually just run until I'm there. It's definitely been something that's growing on me and it's great to see so many people on MFP that are doing the same :)
