Self-Sabotage...everytime, I begin doing well by losing pounds, I do something stupid like drink a bottle of wine or order an entire pie and eat half of it!! Ultimately, kill my efforts. :-(
Anyone ever do this? Did you defeat this negative behavior? I would so love tips.

I did this at first too.....just log it all good or bad and move on. Don't let it get you down and don't say "I'll start over tomorrow" because that gives you permission to keep going for the rest of the night----or worse saying "I'll start next week" which just gives you permission to binge the rest of this week since it's already "ruined". I would also really pay attention to why I had the binge (usually my kids annoying me) and how I felt after (like crap). My daughter just got on my nerves with her little 9 year old attitude and instead of eating I actually put in ear buds, cranked up my music and cleaned my kitchen. Still feeling the stress up my back so I am going to jump on the bike and get my exercise out of the way. It took me several months to get to that point though. Don't beat yourself up-don't let one bad decision derail yourself. I figure I have at least another year before I get the majority of my weight off and there are going to be bad days. I am trying to make them few and far between and not beat myself up when they do happen. GOOD LUCK!!!!!0

If you are eating half a pie at one sitting you may want to check out Overeaters Anomymous.0

I haven't defeated it, but I do understand. Either the immediate pleasure of what I'm eating is more important than the weight loss or I'm afraid of losing weight... I haven't quite narrowed it down yet.0 -

Maybe you are not eating enough; being too aggressive with your calorie cutting. That can lead to binging. Also, you don't need to cut out pie and wine in order to lose weight. Just maintain a reasonable deficit. Also, make sure you are getting PLENTY of protein. Current recommendations are 1.1 to 1.4g/lb of lean body mass. That is about twice the RDA and it helps tremendously with cravings.
Go here to calculate the calories you should eat to lose weight: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
Make sure you eat back about 1/2 your exercise calories if you use MFP to enter them (MFP over estimates a LOT).0 -
I can totally relate. I'm thinking about it right now...Papa Johns is just a click away on my computer. It's so tempting.
You have to remind yourself constantly why you decided to do this. For me, it's my health and to be a good role model for my nieces. Jot down 5 really good reasons on why you want to do this. Then ask yourself is that bottle of wine and pie really worth it. Keep reminding yourself of you reasons. Temptations will ALWAYS be there, it's how you deal with them that determines your success. You can do it!0 -
Thanks you are describing me to the T I am going to listen to your good advice0
