Last night my wife and I had the first "date night" we've had in a while...I decided to throw caution to the wind and just splurge...Between dinner and dessert I probably had 2 days worth of calories lol...This morning when I got up i felt the way I used to feel after a long night of drinking....hungover....(btw...I didn't drink last night) This has happened several times before, usually when I splurge...but I didn't think much of it...My question is...am I the only person that has experienced this and is there any link to my body having these "extra" calories to deal with that may cause me to feel this way....?

I haven't fallen off the wagon this time around yet, but last time I was counting calories/watching what I ate I cheated one night and had McDonalds...I was SO sick the next day. Not sure if it was because it was McDonalds, or because after eating healthy for so long I had the 'calorie hangover' but it was awful.

Date nights are important though! Glad you had a good time :)
  • Could also be from the obscene increase in salts and sugars. :) It's amazing how much sodium is typically in restaurant food! But hey it was one night and sounds like you guys had a great time.

That's funny that you say that because last weekend my husband and I went out and celebrated my 25th birthday. I decided that I was also going to throw caution to the wind because I quite literally NEVER cheat, and we had a very filling dinner, and even had dessert. I did not have one alcoholic drink whatsoever. I wokeup the next day and the first words out of my mouth were "WOWWW, why do i feel like i have the absolute worst hangover?" I didn't really put 2 and 2 together until now. However, i believe you're probably right with this. I always feel awful after i eat heavy, unhealthy food. i felt like complete garbage the whole day that day. Thankgod i'm back on track lol

You totally have a junk hang-over.

I went out to dinner last night and had an AMAZING meal (fois gras over parmesean bread, scallops with lobster risoto, 1/2 glass of pino noir, caramel brownie dessert). This was DEFINITELY more fat-calories-salt than I usually ingest and I was 'hung over' this morning as a result.

So today I'm drinking lots of water, getting my work out in, and eating my usual, healthy foods. I'll feel normal again by tomorrow.

I get them too. This sounds totally worth the food hangover! Get back on. Usually after a night like that, I have a good loss for the week. Kind of keeps the body guessing.
  • I agree with NikNok, it's usually because of all the sodium that is in the entrees. My husband have a regular monthly/bi-monthly Date Night at one specific Irish Pub in town that does 'Brew Dinners' with local breweries. They create a 5-6 course meal with beers from the brewer all for about $40 a person. It's such fun, but it definitely gives me a Calorie Hangover the next day. We have another one coming up this Tuesday... :D

Sometimes it's good to throw caution to the wind, that's what makes this a 'Lifestyle' instead of just a diet. Sounds like you had a great time. Now drink two Gatorade's, workout for 30 minutes and call me in the morning. :p

Totally agree! I've been trying to cut out my sugar in take, " Myfitness" has brought to my attendion that I was eatting far too much natural sugar & hiden sugars, much to my shock-horror! I've managed to cut out at least half of the portion. then oneday I decided to treat my-self because I was going swimming training that day, and eatting it tasted too rich, even alcoholic. I believe my body has adjusted to the new healthier eatting
