Hi all - I am feeling the Friday workout blues and really need some words of encouragement to get off my chair and do my regular stair workout with my co-workers. Unfortunately they are feeling the same way I am and no one is really pushing to start. HELP Please

Not sure if this is the type of motivation you were looking for.0 -

Be the initiator. Just get up and get started and if they don't follow, just do it yourself. It's always tough at the start but once you get started you'll feel so much better.0 -
LOL i love it - thanks0

Excellent! Great job.0 -
Look in the mirror and say, "You can do this" ... just talk to yourself in the mirror (that helps me). I didn't want to exercise last night, but once I got started (took about 10 mins on the treadmill) before I turned my negative thought into a positive thought and just went all out. I was staring at the blank TV (on the treadmill seeing myself) and hyped myself up.... was on it for 30 mins and moved onto weights (total workout 1 hr). YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!0

I just printed it out and put it on my computer - this way when I get in this mood again, which I will, I will have that little donkey staring me in the face and tell me to "Get off my *kitten*"0

Thanks so much – the is an excellent way to motivate yourself – excellent tip0

Take the bull by the horns and DO EEEET. Be the one to force the rest to ;p.
Just out of interest, what is the challenge??0 -
Heck, it is 7:54 AM and already I was at the gym this morning doing Boot Camp at 5AM!! This afternoon I have a Triple Threat group fitness class that I will do for an hour. I LOVE Friday workouts!!0

We are on floor 18 - so we run down to floor 1, walk, jog, skip steps all the way to floor 41 (which is the top) then we run down to floor 1 and repeat back up to our floor 18. Believe you me, it is really hard and I absolutely HATE doing it, while we are doing it, then 10 minutes after it is over I feel WONDERFUL and am happy we did it0

WOW that sound like a wonderful work out :flowerforyou:0

Awesome workout !! Congrats !! Like you, I run stairs all the time... even when my coworkers take the elevator; I tell them - I will meet you up/down there!! I won't take an elevator...0

Thanks everyone for pushing me this morning. I just heard back from my co-workers and we are on for 10:000

Does it get any easier? We've been doing this routine for some time now and it seems to get harder and harder.0

Tough love is what normally works for me.0 -
JUST DO IT!!
My gym buddy and I usually reserve Fridays for low impact easy stuff for this same reason. After kicking *kitten* for 4 days, there's just not enough oomph left. But we still get it done and half the time we end up doing something harder than we planned because we rock like that. For instance, we will very likely be doing running intervals today and mabe even some leg work. Does that sound easy to you?
Also, not sure if this helps, but over the last few years we've been doing stair workout on 9/11 as a tribute to the heroes and victims who had to go through the nightmare of being in those buildings. Especially the firemen though - just think of how hard it was to carry all that equipment up all those stairs - we're talking an extra 60-70 pounds of gear! If they can manage all that, I guess I can walk up 110 floors (# of flights in each world trade center) in my t-shirt and shorts.
P.S. Stairs never seem to get easier! Some of the most fit people I know hate stairs.0 -
Actually NO that does not sound easy to me, running intervals ewww, but I do them too. I do love leg lifts, curls actually anything to do with weights I like. Cardio, not really my thing, but I know it must be done to lose weight. That is a very nice way to honor those poor people and their families of 9-11. My best friend was a fireman and lost his life when the 1st tower fell. For Paul I thank you0

Friday workouts are great AND necessary! Celebrate a work week done and earn some weekend calories!
If it's your "regular" that's bumming you out, try something new. Maybe drop in on a local gym class. Even without a memebership most places will let you guest for a fee or even free sometimes to try and reel you in!0 -
Funny you said that about going to the gym. They are opening one up a few blocks from where i live, and the word on the street is that they are going to open up very early, so that people can go prior to work. I was thining of joining that. Normall i get up and do the treadmil for 1/2 hour then at work we do the stairs and walk on our lunch break. I think the gym will give me that extra on the weekends that i think i need0
