I just started back down my path on January 1st.

Before then my diet was pretty nasty and my exercise was nil.

Now I am walking about an hour a day and have completely cleaned out my diet (I'm basically going in the way of the Paleo diet).

My concern is, after 9 days I have lost 8.4 pounds.

Help.. Please?

In the beginning and/or if you're obese, you'll probably have faster-than-average weight loss. If it doesn't slow down in a few weeks, then worry. :)

As green run stated, a lot of water the first few weeks but after, aim for about this:

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

    ^What everyone else said.

Some people just naturally lose a lot in their first couple of weeks. Watch how you're feeling. Make sure your energy levels, mood, etc aren't suffering (which could be a sign that you're overdoing something) and wait a couple of weeks to see if it slows.
  • Same for me I lost eight pounds and I just hit my 10 day mark. Everyone telling me it's just water weight plus the original 2 pounds a week.
