Hot bath trick?

I heard if you took a moderately hot bath and soaked in it for about 20 minutes it would help you lose water weight. Is this true?

Yes, you will sweat in a hot bath and that will cause you to loose water weight, not sure how noticeable the effect will be though :)

I find that soaking for 20 minutes in a hot bath helps me relax and forget about things that are meaningless... like "water weight."

Girl, you need to be hydrated to be healthy. Sometimes your body and your mind make you feel like you're full of extra juice, cuz that's what bodies do as part of our normal cycles. Just let it ride and keep doin' your own thing. Focus on lovin' yourself with good food, remember that a woman is more than her dress size, and let all that fat-shaming nonsense about "water weight" float down the drain with the bath water! :-)
  • As someone who has problems with water retention and swelling that causes discomfort I take a hot bath and add a cup of epsom salt OR 12 oz apple cider vinegar. It does seem to make the water retention/swelling go down but makes you very tired so if you're just worried about losing weight, it's totally not worth it, but if you really need the relief from bloating go for it and drink plenty of water before and after.

2 cups epson salt and 1 cup baking soda is supposed to be a detox bath. Not sure about water weight, but I agree that it made me very tired.

A hot bath or soak in a hot tab after an excruciating run or weight lifting session seems to help with soreness.
However, no help with weight loss, in fact heat slows down the metabolism slightly I would think.

yes, having a hot bath will make you sweat and thus lose water weight (sauna's also work, working out etc etc) however drinking water will restore the equilibrium unless of course you intend to never drink water again.

This is one of those wrestling/boxing tricks where fighters need to lose lbs on the scale quickly for weigh-ins. It's probably dangerous for them and certainly not necessary for normal people. Take a bath because it's relaxing and feels good, not because you might lose 2 lbs until the next glass of water you drink.

    This made me laugh!
