Hello and welcome. If you are hanrky you may be restricting yourself to much to fast.Slow down ,enjoy this new journey you are on and make small changes one day at a time.Be thankful every day for another day on this awesome planet,be thankful for your body that can accomplish so much and most of all do not think of this as a diet. I look for ways to make yummy food and always save a few calories for a piece of dessert at the end of my day or after dinner.Check out www.skinnytaste.com for recipes and www.Goudamonster.com ,the later one is vegetarian as I like to eat a few meals without meat.Above all relax, it is not how fast you can get there but that you get there.Add me as friend and we can help one another get there.
  • Thankyou for your support. Yes I do think I jumped into this too fast. I eliminated all processed food, including changing to decaffeinated coffee and tea (I only drink 1 coffee a day, although have several teas) all at the same time. Probably not a good move on reflection, although I was super inspired at the beginning.

Regarding exercise I have had to take that slow due to my back injury!

I am looking forward to a lovely glass of NZ savvy tonight at a family BBQ!

Maybe you're cranky for a totally different reason? Not the what-where-why-when syndrome of eating the right way, or counting calories?
Hang in there. You can do it! (If all else fails, eat a spoonful of honey...)

Good Lord, I'd be cranky too!

Start small, dearie. Try eliminating 1 of your favorite processed foods a week, weaning down on it as the week goes by. It's going to take time. Trying to do everything at once will overwhelm you and make you feel deprived.

First: I'm someone who tries to build my diet around whole foods: nutrient dense vegetables, lean proteins, dairy, fruits, and 100%whole grains.

Now, that said: why the switch to decaf? How is that "less processed"?
Look: go for it with eating foods that are less processed. Eliminate the heavily processed, pre-digested convenience goods, if it seems to make sense to you, sure. But have a carefully thought out plan. Why coffee?
Cutting out so-called junk foods (which means you're really limiting sugar and HFCS which is in everything), if you add caffeine to this, it's a LOT to do at once.

Just my .02 of a given currency.
  • i agree with everyone above. in my experience, if you're too restrictive, it's very difficult to make lasting changes. baby steps :)
