I need a GOOD blender

My hamilton beach blender just isn't cutting it. Every morning I make a protein shake with water, powder, and a few ice cubes. My blender barely gets the cubes down in 3-5 minutes. I would also like to make my own fraps since I'm cutting out starbucks. Anyone know any good blenders that aren't expensive and easy to clean that will break down ice cubes in a minute or less?

My Krups works well and crushes ice very smoothly. Not sure of the model number but it's a few years old and still humming along. Search "blender" on Amazon, choose Dept: Home, Garden & Pets, then on the drop down to the right choose "Avg Customer Reviews"....or search by cost. Good luck!0

I have had an Osterizer for years and it was wonderful BUT I just bought a Vitamix and WOW! It cooks/heats the soup, freezes frozen fruit into a sorbet AND blends wonderful! It has a HUGE motor. It is very pricey - I bought as a Today's special value on QVC. It is worth if you use it a lot!
It cleans with a drop of soap - fill with water and blend!0 -
I bought my Oster at Target for $30 and I haven't had any problems with crushing ice. If anything it crushes it too quickly and ends up making snow in about 5 seconds. It's a 12 speed and extremely versatile. Good luck0

I do as well. Everytime I look at reviews on Amazon, every blender seems to have an equal amount of great and terrible reviews. AHHH.
Anyone have the Ninja? Or a Kalorik?0 -
You MUST buy the Ninja Blender! I have the Ninja Blender/Food Processor and it's FAN-TASTIC. I use it mostly for smoothies (and ok, frozen alcoholic drinks too) but it beats the heck out of the hamilton blender I had. That thing couldn't even crush ice for me.

I know you said you want a good blender that isn't expensive. Well I wanted that too but realized that the Vita-Mix blender was a good value. It costs about $400 which sounds like a lot of money. But if you are cutting out Starbucks than it equals about 80 Caramel Frappuccinos. My husband and 4 kids thought I was crazy to buy this but very quickly became convinced that it was worthwhile. We use our Vita-Mix 2-3 times a day and it has more than paid for itself. We buy frozed fruit at Costco and make shakes/smoothies for breakfast and dinner. I also take a shake to work with me. I also used the Vita-Mix this summer to make my own spaghetti sauce.0

They are super pricey but you might try a Vitamix . I have one and it is possibly the best thing i could have ever bought!

I have a Cuisinart that has an ice crushing option but I don't need to even use that button, regular blending crushes everything perfectly. I’ve had it for about 7 years now, it was $100cdn so about average in pricing.
I tried a magic bullet once and that thing is useless on ice cubes, it barely scraped the sides so I don't recommend it for ice crushing although smoothies without ice work well (my sister owns it) .
The Ninja someone mentioned above is sold on TV so you may have some grief plus added expense of shipping if you try it but the infomercial does look enticing, I’ll admit that.0 -

It's also available from Amazon and BJs (at least here in the States) both of which offer free shipping.0
